Finally got round to painting the Warlord Plastic Walls.

Built as they come, they are a little plain but the simple addition of added rubble at the damaged areas, along with a few hedges (deliberately differing from those along my fences for variety) and three or four flavours of tuft and I think they look sufficiently interesting.  To me very important as theses will cover 8 feet on the table.

So with the two fence types, these walls and the bocage sections....I must now have over 30ft of linear obstacle......yet I still have some resin walls to paint...and I need a couple more sections of wire fencing seeing as I have none with gates in!

Another quick paint job...this time the useful little ramshackle barn from Renedra.

A tad small for a barn but I have stone barn already...however as a tractor shed or garage, it will work a treat!

Do you need that much walls?
How big is your table?

Can go up to 6’ x 8’ for big CoC .  However we will mostly play on 6’ x 4’ .  It’s not so much about fitting it all on the table so much as being able to vary the look and play of the battlefield.    As I’ve said before, they all offer different challenges and different levels of cover.  The wire and post for example would offer no cover but a perfect field of view and are still an obstacle to overcome.  These walls offer hard cover and are an obstacle plus the can block los depending on elevations. Etc etc.

So, I bought one of the cheap ribbed doormats and thought I mat try and turn it into an acceptable ploughed field.   I’ve cut off a small section to trial it.   Let’s see if it turns out ok......

First up, I’ve pretty much soaked it in watered pva and sprinkled coarse sand over it.....I will let it dry then spray prime it black before dry brushing up in browns....I suspect it will sponge the paint..so I will use pots of exterior paint to start it off.

I have at least that much linear obstacles. Once I realized that if I wanted to line both sides of 2 roads making an intersection, that I needed at least 20 feet, all bets were off.

Yup...and as I’m about to paint a load of railway track...that will need fencing in too probably!

Anyway, thanks to powers that be, I can post again!

A few bits done, minefields and entrenchments.

I also decided to buy a Charlie Foxtrot sentry box.

I do like the minefields . I Normally added a couple of mine's . Plus a second strand of barbed wire on the fence facing away from the enemy. As its the polite way to mark them. (Two is to stop friendlys becoming accidental geography. )
That way you can do lazy mine field's to fill the gaps between the  minefields bases with just two strips of fencing on one strip with one strand and one with two( plus they can get recycled as domestic fences for other games.)

Makes sense.  Hadn’t thought about the second wire.  Tbh..I didn’t really research it, I just went with what I thought looked cool.  The little red rags are cut strips from a cotton hanky!  I have the rest of the Hank on standby for tarpaulins etc...

Cheers

Absolutely nothing wrong with these as they are.
Nothing ever goes totally by the book.( You'd be worried if it did) Big believer in if it works for you then it doesn't matter if its not to everyone else taste.
Totally and utterly managed to loose my point in translation. What I ment was . Minefields look great. If you make strips of wire fence in the same style as a strip of hedge or wooden fence. (Reguardless of the friendly fence having two strands ore one.)
You plonk them between a couple your minefields. That way you cant build large minefields and have additional features in side mined area's such as objectives.

On a slightly different note. I've already done a water tower/pump station, and was planning on an electrical substation. As I like the idea of ' real life' objectives. Had you noticed the Sarissa Electrical substation kit. It'll take a little tweaking. Just because I think it's an interesting alternative to the useual sabotage targets on a table.

Hmmm....great idea, I will take a look thanks.

As for the fence line “extensions....sounds like a plan, cheers.

My printed track sections arrived from Paint and Glue.  I had thought they were printed with ballast.....I was wrong.  Going to take me a while to do and paint, but useful.

I also painted my Warlord bridge.   Going to have a go at making my own rivers I think.  That will take me a little while.

Now there is light at the end of the tunnel (debatable if you ask Hasbeen!) I thought I’d start reading Bloody Bucket ready to start our campaign.   I’ve realised I need to paint a few more Germans and pick up a couple of support items.   That will take priority now me thinks.

Lots to do....

Well he could've done what Flames of War did with WW2
When you get to the end start at the beginning again  lol

Liking the minefield and the walls, really nice job.

The warlord walls look like the italeri ones, a little low for my liking for Normandy villages.

Cheers
