The link is to the Matchlock Miniatures Catalogue as far as I can see, but seems to be Poles, (which look nice), Volksturm (less so), a limited selection of British infantry and some German Cossack allies.

British Platoon Command and the first section finished.

Minis are Crusader.   They are a little squat but actually not as bad as I thought from their catalog pics.

Basing the other two sections now.  I will be adding some support from Warlord.

Against the British?  Don’t know yet...we will soon see though mate, I have a few support options coming from Warlord.

I do know they stack up well against Artizan so shouldn’t be too bad.   The prone figures look a little small, but I don’t think it will be a big issue on the battlefield.  Harder to hit I say!  ;)

Well painted Brits.
I tend to forget that Crusader has a excellent range of 28mm  figures.
I was cleaning out some boxes and found a whole platoon of German WWII figures.
I don't remember when I purchased them. o_o
Oh, the things we find.
Must be due to my age. ;D
Now to paint them up.

Very nice brushwork on the Brits.
They should match OK size wise with the newish Warlord BEF as they are on the large n chunky side.

Do you mean BEF?   The new late war British come out this next month.

Hopefully I’m not too reliant on the warlord ones tbh.....I but the bullet and bought a few duplicate packs of riflemen from Crusader, enough to do the support squad too.

I have to say, these little chaps have grown on me.   Lots of character I think.

Many thanks for the kind comments all.

Re: CoC - Western Front - Converting Prone Figures
« Reply #461 on: March 23, 2021, 11:45:59 AM »
Thank you sir!

Jamie is making himself some panzer grenadiers and we were bemoaning the lack of prone poses on the Warlord plastic sprue.  I offered to have a go at a conversion, the least I could do seeing as he has kindly painted my tanks!

Anyway, putting my money where my mouth is, I have a couple of bits left on a sprue so here is a quick guide to making a prone mini.  I have done a few of these using GW Imperial guard before now but the principle is the same.

I always start by selecting my mini, then breaking the legs off, and shaving a little off the belly area in order to lift the chest off the floor.  I then glue in place the legs at a better angle approximately where they need to be.   I will often bring in other appropriate legs from other minis, but in this case they are the originals.

Don’t worry about gaps at this point.  I have also glued the MG42 where I want it.

Same with arms......there isn’t a natural arm reaching forward enough, so I broke the firming arm and glued it in position.  Likewise the loading arm, I simply cut the arm below the sleeve and turned it and flattened out the hand a little.

Don’t be afraid of bringing the ground up to the mini.  For example I raised the ground under the loading arm to make it look like it’s propped from the ground.

And then using a little green stuff, fill any gaps and rebuild shoulders / hips etc.   The trick here if your gs skills are a little limited like mine, is to cover them all with plenty of clutter hanging from the waist etc afterwards!

Et voila!

No worries!  The shouldered gun was bothering me so adding a canister at the back gave it more reason to sit proud as it does....in hindsight strapping across his back would have looked less awkward but hey ho!
