 ;)

First game of the Bloody Bucket campaign this coming weekend!  :)

Pretty much everything painted I should need for that.

Started painting a section and command for my Fallschirmjager yesterday.   Then got distracted putting together the 10.5 recoilless.   Trying to pack five minis around it always fun!

Question.   How effective would it be compared with a standard 10.5 gun?

Don't know about effectiveness but I'm looking forward to a link to an AAR with lots of eye candy pics :)

Think the shell would have been just as effective but the range would be much less. Also an artillery piece can do proper indirect fire whereas a recoiless rifle becomes a direct fire weapon.
I am going to build a wargames army, a big beautiful wargames army, and Mexico is going to pay for it.

I was just reading up on the FJ recoiless rifles, and they were clever if not ideal.  Generally they fired a matching 10.5 shell, but obviously with little to no barrel.  Apparently the weapons themselves were capable of wearing out pretty quickly, but it was a lot of firepower and relatively light.

So. basically, in a firefight the size of CoC...and the limited ranges of the game...basically direct fire version of the 105mm standard artillery piece then.   Perfect!  Cheers

Just need to paint them.....!

Yeah I have some of the 7.5 ones in 15mm and I think I may run them as the short barreled 7.5 infantry gun.  Not sure. :D

I'm not sure they shouldn't be capable of some indirect fire as well.

As I understood it, the limiting factor was the venting to the rear of the weapon, and so if it could be elevated a little, without the rear blast causing issues, then presumably if was theoretically possible?  Although on a table the size of a typical CoC battlefield, I am not sure many weapons other than mortars should have indirect fire capability.

Do you need the five guys on the single base?
Do you need single bases to allow for casulties

No, you can do three say and a few singles if you like.  I like the interactive look of a full team...though I often leave the junior officer off and represent with a sing,e figure.

It would certainly save you a few quid doing loose figures, but personal choice.

I like the use of mini dice to show casualties.  At Jamie’s suggestion, like him, I ordered a few mini dice holders from Sabotag3d

Apart from the weight the Vickers was still a very good MMG. No barrel changes needed, very sturdy, and reliable. Interested to see the Bundeswehr is finally planning to retire the MG42, or G3 if you prefer. Though the replacement is apparently problematic.
