Panzer 2 my eye.  :)

Digits has his armour painted by Private Buzz, who does excellent
work by the way. Digits seems to (maybe) misled him as to how
much work was involved, claiming (possibly) that it was only a
few Pz 2s. Have a look at Digits' threads about WW2 & you will see
how much work Private Buzz has done.

Yes indeed the 6pdr can do serious damage, but not as much as...
an RPG (Another group joke). :)

My apologies. I misinterpreted your post to mean you were having a little dig at the usefulness of the 6 pdr. We couldn't have that, could we?  :)

One day I may surprise him and ask him to paint a REAL pzr II  :D

RPG!   Yes, the shot legends are made of!   Alas, I may never repeat it again.....

But I’ve found a new toy...and a very effective one it has proven so far.....panzerschreck!

I will be painting one up this weekend as I have started work on my first batch of Fallschirmjagers.

No need to apologise. As they might say across the pond, 'No flag no foul'
I wasn't annoyed/insulted, whatever. The fault was mine for not making my comment clearer.

I thought that the 6 Pdr was quite an effective A-tk gun. Wasn't one of the first Tigers to be taken out, was by a 6 Pdr in Tunisia or was that simply a myth?

The 6 pounder was indeed effective against the Tiger. Churchill crews were quite happy to use them for their AT effect, mixing them up with 75mm variants. Later on the 6 pounder got a Discarding Sabot ('DS') round which was deadly against pretty much anything that the Germans had. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ordnance_QF_6-pounder

Well, I’m not getting any painting done, despite staring at these German paras for an awful long time!  Real life gets in the way, with work being nice and busy.

However, I have still been adding to the lead pile!  lol

I want to do a platoon of Waffen SS as I’ve mentioned before now.  I’m not picking a particular division, none hold any particular appeal, but nor am I going to airbrush history, it happened.

For this unit, I decided to start with mixing a box of the SS Sturmbataillon Charlemagne, with their French arm patches removed, and the pack “Raus” of disembarking panzer grenadiers.  I also mix in a couple of plastics I had left on sprues.

I opted for these because I felt the minis offer a nice dynamic “assaulting” look, a great “rag tag” appearance and gave me an answer to my continuing quest to find sufficient unique minis, particularly among the machine gun teams!

The Raus minis are a little challenging in that for the poses to make sense, you need to add objects to the base, done here with simple bits of slate.

So I have the first two sections.  I will buy the Warlord 10 man metal SS section and supports for the rest in time.

Added a box of Waffen SS plus a few support options including Sniper, Flame Thrower and observer/ radio team plus my new favourite toy, panzerschreck!

As we will be playing more Normandy and I have so far failed to paint the Fallschirmjager, I will need to get a German force painted and under my belt!

As these will have a similar rag tag look as my Winter fellas, with some various camo combos etc, it should keep them interesting.  Going to try out a couple of new camo schemes to kick start them…..

Seconded, will look forward to seeing how these turn out. And all reusable for 1945, assuming you don't go for too much of a summer look.

Working on my test scheme for M1942 Blurred Edge at. The moment….

However, I have a game tomorrow.   Yesterday a small order arrived from Total Battle Minis and as the table calls for a large farm setup, I sat last night for a couple of hours and quickly (not sure what came over me!) painted this barn which I’d ordered.  Actually from their blackpowder range, but a little ramshackle barn fits in pretty much anywhere so made sense to buy it.  Me thinks Captain Blood did a slightly better job of the paintwork when he bought one for his Civil War table, but I’m happy enough with it.

I agree….lots of rural buildings are essential.

Here is the set up for tomorrow’s game, Crossroads on Le Grand Chemin, Etienville.

This is the opening action of the 14th June 1944  as the US 90th infantry, 82nd Airborne and 325th infantry glider regiments push east towards St Sauveur le Vicomte as part of the sealing off of the peninsula.

Opposing them were elements of the 265 Infanterie-Division. Grenadiers.

Jamie send me aerial photographs of the area and this is my interpretation….

As you look at the table, the US are approaching the farm hamlet from the fields…..should be fun to be a defender for this one!
