Lovely work there.  I'm interested in seeing them painted.

And I forgot TAG sells separate weapons.  Thanks for the reminder.  And the more I think about it, the more I think I'll grab up some Warlord and/or Artizan PL guys...my other WW2 platoons are of mixed manufacturer, why not these guys?   8)

Anyhow, well done so far!

Cheers guys.

Yes Jim, that would in my opinion be wise.  Though the problem I face is simply the sheer number of troops carrying panzerfausts in the metal sets….you’d think they were more like volkssturm!

I think mixing them up will give you a better looking overall force, and like you, my other units are a ready mix of metal and plastic……I hate any two figures to repeat if I can help it.  I think the WA minis certainly can fill holes, or be converted sufficiently to do so.  I just worry that out of the box, they are a  little…..soul-less.

Those minis are now based and undercoated along with the rest of the Lehr platoon.   Just trying to decide if I’m in the right mood to paint them yet….or move to something else.

These paras have burnt me out! Lol

The Warlord anti tank gun.   In hindsight, they would have been better painted then popped in place.   I’m in two minds as to whether or not replace it with an Artizan one…..time will tell.

And I picked up one of these from the same place as the airborne jeeps.

Fallschirmjager in a kubelwagon with drop canisters……..is it enough to respark the German airborne I once started…..?

As you saw in my thread, i paint and mount the crew figures on separate bases.  One advantage is that they're easier to pant up that way.  And casualties can be removed, too.  Having said that, I think your gun and crew look great!  Although you're getting burned out on painting Paras, you could get the Artizan gun, and paint up a crew for it too... :)

EDIT:

So let it be written, so let it be done...Warlord and Artizan Panzer Lehr fellows are duly ordered...and I don't know if the WA PL guys are "soul-less" out of the box.  But they certainly are a bit kit-less...I may have to move a squad of them up in my painting queue to see how the do look all dolled up!

Too late….I started the Lehr!

I saw how you did your crews…..useful idea, but I like the more natural positioning of a crew and I’m not everl6 fussed ensuring there are “five crew and leader” on a gun…..so I simply use a small dice to tell me how many crew are gone.

Saying that, painting is harder I will grant.

Alrighty then.  They look good so far, with all 3 manufacturers represented.

Indeed they are.   I will have to catch up with a panzerschreck team (or two) once the TAG weapons arrive.    Hopefully these should be relatively quicker to paint…..😏

One would think, wouldn't one?   ;)  No camo, except maybe a few helmet covers...

I always find its the equipment on them that takes all the time, Zeltbahn, water bottle, mess tin, bread bag, entrenching tool, gas mask case etc...

Just painting some winter Volksgrenadiers at the moment,  and it's taking an age. Mainly Warlord, and some nice sculpts, but labour intensive and my mojo isn't there.

Not to mention I am easily sidetracked... 1st Corps BEF, yes please!

Hopefully will move them along a bit this weekend.

Meanwhile, I’ve been painting up some walls (Empress).  I lost the doors but I can scratch those at some point anyway.

Cheers Pete.  I’m coming along methinks  😉

So, the walls will make for interesting “compound” challenges.   Quick set up, as I want to take a few pics of the paras.

Thank you to Jamie for the big cat.

First para pic….jump off markers, drop canisters etc.

David, you need a BIG ruined wall section,
where the Tiger got out of the farm yard.  :D

Love those walls.  You've certainly done them justice.

But, as Mr. has.been has pointed out, I too wonder how the Tiger got out of its cage.  Must have some fantastic pioneers in support!   :D
