Left at the Bottom of the Garden Chapter Two - in the shop now!
« on: September 01, 2020, 06:48:53 PM »

“The old woman fussed and busied about her home. At her feet, three cloth kittens scampered and played as she swept the floor, stoked the fire and straightened the furniture. They were to have visitors. Bundled out of the cottage by the old woman, the kittens darted through the rain and across the clearing to the shelter of the woodshed. A low mournful moan slid through the slatted wood of the shed. The kittens looked at each other, then bolted straight back to the house. Small pebble eyes watched them go.”

I'm very happy to say that my second Kickstarter has now launched, to fund the production of another set of lost toys. Following on from last year's Kickstarter for Olive, Clementine and friends, this year we meet the old woman who lives in the woods, her various cloth cats and the troll that lives in her woodshed. And a toy robin.

It's quite a short campaign this time, ending on the 10th of September, and everything is in place for swift fulfilment. I've really pleased to see it's already passed the funding goal. :)

Please do take a look – I've enjoyed making the Left at the Bottom of the Garden toys more than anything else I've done and I really hope you like them!

How about a theme tune? How many miniatures ranges have a theme tune, eh? [link to yesterday's very silly update]

No Kickstarter update tonight, but I am reacquainting myself with Michael Thorp's rather lovely Left at the Bottom of the Garden game for tomorrow's update.

The WIP rules, tiles and cards (dated June 15th) are in the LatBotG Facebook group and I'll post a Dropbox link in tomorrow's update too.

If you play Frostgrave you could use them als small constructs, or in other games as animated objects or familiars.

Splendid, though I would venture the middle cat with the arched back needs a little sewn on x or * sculpted on the backside. ;)

It's took me a while, but if you're referring to what I think you're referring, thankfully any potential * is hidden by her tail!

I'm having a quiet day today after spending all day yesterday casting up toys for the Kickstarter. It was a very hot and very long day but I've made a decent dent in what's required for fulfilment.

So today, here's the old woman who lives in the woods that I painted earlier in the year. I based the figure on an old photograph of an Orcadian crofter.

Yes, indeed. A very original and ingenious concept. But what would I do with them!!! If I had a young daughter...

Great painting on the minis, they deserve more posts. Also the nicely sculpted terrain bases are a definite plus.

Good luck on the Kickstarter.

Thanks. :) Here's another painted toy for you.

The toy robin is my smallest miniature yet. In the story I have in my head, the robin follows the troll around, warning other toys so the troll can't eat their stuffing - just like the robin that used to follow my old cat Enzo around the garden, broadcasting a warning about his every move.

In today's Kickstarter Update, I indulgently reminisce about the cats that inspired the three cloth cats.

Hi folks,

We're into the last 24 hours of the Left at the Bottom of the Garden Chapter Two Kickstarter! Thanks to all the backers already on board - it's been smashing. If anyone else wants to hop on the toy cat train, please do take a look.

Kittens!
