How do I edge this board?
« on: September 11, 2020, 12:56:32 AM »

The base is only hardboard so it's easy enough to cut and obviously the Heroscape edges and points line up.

I was thinking cut the board into a rectangle touching the points and edges and using a wooden beading or similar or run a batten around it like a picture frame.

I'm not worried about the zigzag and have no plans to cut hexes in half :-)

Anybody any ideas for a simple solution different to mine?

This seems reasonable to me. You could also lay the pieces as they are on a piece of foam, trace around them and cut the foam to fill in between the hexes and the wood bead/batten/quarter round/whatever.

Saw this a while back if you have access to a 3D printer.

No idea if it's any good but you could make a test print to see.

One option that would to improve the look would be to frame it up, then fill the edges with expanding foam and shape them into hills or other forms. Not play area, but more of an addition to make it look neat.

The edges should be a tree trunk motif. As if it were a forest. IMHO.
