Lovely orcs. Wonder if they’ve got the right weapons for the GW middle earth game.

Nice pictures, especially the comparison shots. I just received my box and I like these orcs a lot.

As far as using them with the LotR rules goes, I don’t know which equipment types you would need, but I expect the Oathmark box will cover most contingencies- you can build archers, swordsmen, or spearmen, with or without shields. No 2-handed weapons, but it is an easy conversion to use Frostgrave arms on the orcs…

This would have been posted earlier, but I fumbled the left arm from the barbarian sprue, so had to replace it with one from a crossbow set.

I’ve been doing a few similar conversions on the orcs to turn them into line breakers. The gnolls set also has 2-handed axe arms that can work with a little work.

With this fellow, would it have been feasible to cut the left hand at the wrist, spin it around so that it is on top of the axe handle, and glue it in place?

You make a good point, so good I applied a razor saw to the figure's wrist and managed to remove it.

After a five minute scrabble on the floor, I finally found the hand, and after gluing the right arm back on (I think the liquid poly has evaporated a bit) I attached them all together.

Photograph tomorrow.

Just added the Elf Infantry sprue to the blog: https://ultravanillasmurf.blogspot.com/2022/08/oathmark-elf-infantry.html, hopefully tomorrow I will add Dwarf Heavy Infantry with five assembled heavy dwarfs.

That’s just what I was thinking- it looks like a fairly natural grip. I expect he’ll look very intimidating painted up!

I never actually considered using the crossbow arms with the axe arm, but what you have done turned out really well. Might just have to look again at the sprues and do something similar.

North Star have three Dwarf box sets for Oathmark.

This is a Dwarf Border Guard, built from the Dwarf Light Infantry set.

Four Dwarf Warriors (Heavy Infantry) and an orc interloper.

The missing dwarf.

Goblin, Dwarf and Orc.

And finally, William Killian.

Mrs. GG thinks the Oathmark Dwarves are on the large side but I quite like them. They are my current go-to for Dwarves.

To misquote a stupid story in Viz magazine from several decades ago, "Oathmark Dwarves make normal sized people for small people.  Normal sized people make dwarf sized people for large people".

Yes, they are quite big.  Given they are chunkier and have heavier heads than most human figures they look like they would easily out-bulk most humans.  Still, nice figures.  That poor goblin certainly won't stand a chance.

So here are the first five figures from the recent Orc Infantry box set from North Star.

Comparison photographs:

Oathmark Human

There are sprue photographs here:

mh... here it looks like overly long arms? maybe it is the perspective, but something seems to be off for me. thanks for the pictures though!

Clearly this is an homage to the Rogue Trader Space Orks, who had very long arms as well. ;)

Joking aside, I kinda like the Oathmark ranges. Never worked with any of these figures, but I find the Dwarves rather charming, and the Orcs look nice as well. Oh, I've seen the wolf riders wolves in person. Good wolves.

North Star have released the third box of plastic Goblin figures for Oathmark.

For my Oathmark background, these are going to be townsfolk/militia - poorly trained and under equipped.

They are significantly slighter than the Goblin Infantry (even without the armour).

Comparison: Oathmark Goblin, Oathmark Human, Fireforge Almughavar, Oathmark Orc, Oathmark Goblin militia and Oathmark Dwarf,

Of course the biggest challenge for me is to actually build (let alone paint) even a mini army  of militia - without upgrades that is 91 figures.

I might build a level one Spellcaster , a Captain and utilise a small unit each of Spears and Archers as Town Guard to reduce the headcount a bit.

As a "House" rule, I would give units Courage (1) when defending their home.

For my Goblin Militia army I decided that to reduce the number of figures I would need to build (let alone paint) I would have a core of slightly better troops.

There is the Town Guard comprising a Captain, two ranks of Goblin Spears, two ranks of Goblin Archers and a Level one Spellcaster.

The Goblin Slave sprue includes a Goblin without armour who I thought would be suitable as the body of the Spellcaster. The head is one of the hooded ones from the same set. The arms are from the Frostgrave Cultist sprue.

The backpack is from the Frostgrave Soldiers II, the accessories from the Frostgrave Wizards II sprue.

There is still plenty of work to do on it.
