Actually I think they look pretty close. Maybe a drybrush of VJ green/grey on the jumpsuit?
TBH I am not sure what shade the early jump helmets would be someone with more knowledge will surely inform you.

That's been my problem, I have been waiting on the someone with more knowledge

I have tried various greys and Greens
I ended up using a dark grey from "coat d arms"
A lot of the early war pictures also show sand coloured ones but I take it they were for crete?

I think they look good Colin. Perfect Luftwaffe grey-blue on the helmet, contrasting with the more earthy colours on the jump suit. Nice

Nice work!

The German para helmet in 1940 was ‘apple green’, really more of an olive colour but not blue or blue grey. Vallejo Olive Grey works for me. That said, grey does give a better contrast.
