Caveat Emptor - Wargames Atlantic Persians Offer
« on: September 22, 2020, 05:15:15 PM »
I had been thinking of adding some more Persians to my collection and was temped by the recent Wargames Atlantic set.  When the bundle offer appeared I could not resist buying 3 boxes.
I went through the purchasing system and on the last page the total changed from £55 to $70.37.

Today the transaction appeared on my bank statement but not £55 as a slightly more expensive foreign currency transaction at £56.11.  So depending upon your bank, exchange rate etc UK purchasers may find the deal not as attractive as they might think.

I have emailed Wargames Atlantic for an explanation and will post their answer if and when I receive it.

Foreign exchanges vary all the time. I don't think that example is that harsh.
I baulk at things priced at say $24 in the USA that are then sold in the UK at around £24 mark.

I agree it is not harsh (and the items are discounted) but it is advertised as UK dispatch to UK address and a GB Pounds price.  There is no mention of dollar exchange until the final purchase page.  The deal is not as advertised and so may well be breaking consumer law.

In your example of dollar = pound, the price hike probably includes VAT (+20%) and/or import duty if applicable so at current prices (as on my bill) would land your $25 purchase at about £23.10 (inc VAT but without duty or transport from USA) so not far short of the £25 price tag in UK when these are included.
