Wilkinson's Campaign in Darkest Africa
« on: September 25, 2020, 11:49:54 AM »
Like many, I've not got much (any?) gaming in this year. But, I've not squandered my time and decided to start preparing for the day when dice will roll once again!

Wilkinson's Campaign Against the Slavers is a terrific little campaign written by Gary Chalk and published in issue 270 of Wargames Illustrated (pp. 98-107). The campaign has a British expeditionary force travelling along a fictional African river to stem the influence of local slavers. As written, the campaign is design for In the Heart of Africa. Before we were all struck by the dreaded plague, my gaming friend Dan and I decided that we wanted to play a few games of Men Who Would Be Kings. Once we hit lockdown that all came to a rapid pause, but I decided to use the time to see if I could convert Wilkinson's Campaign into something we could play using MWWBKs.

I've started to publish various posts on my blog detailing progress with the rules etc. We were hoping to get our first actual game in October or November, but even that is starting to look shaky. Ever the optimist here are links to progress so far.

The blog rules are draft and subject to change, but give an idea of what we aim to do. Once we actually play and fine tune the campaign rules I'll prepare a pdf of the rules and encounter cards etc. I'll also post actual photos of the games!

All looks very interesting and certainly right up my street in terms of period.  A project I look forward to seeing develop.
