[Review] Song of Drums and Shakos +++UPDATE: AAR added!+++
« on: October 04, 2020, 12:43:14 PM »
Hey guys, hope you're having a great Sunday!

Here's the rules introduction and review of Song of Drums and Shakos, swell Napoleonic skirmish fun:

I'm aware that several people on here probably are familiar with these rules. :D Still, I hope you like the article. I'll see that I get the test game's battle report posted asap as well!

Good review BBS!

Interesting you mention reactions for failed activation rolls from Advanced Song of Blades & Heroes in your review this was brought up on The TSOG Blog I look forward to you testing it. Sounds like the reactions are also a feature of Song of Drums Large Battles which I plan to try at some point!

Thank you. You're to blame for me getting the rules out. ;)

Aye, just a few hours ago a chap on Facebook mentioned them using the reaction system from ASoBH in SoDS regularly. I'll make sure to try it out next time I play.

As for Large Battles - I'm in the unfortunate situation of owning several Napoleonic battles rules sets, a big French army and ....that's it. :D No opponents and no opposing army for myself either. So no large battles for me right now. Although I may have a look at some Baccus Russians once the cart opens up again...

Nice AAR and painting. :)

I played 3 or 4 games of SDS and loved the rules. Easy to learn and play and lots of fun.

@rumacara: Thanks very much! Yeah, I'm a big fan of the whole series of games. It's just such clever basic mechanics, with some period flavour sprinkled on. Works like a treat.
