« on: October 03, 2020, 12:53:18 PM »
I just watched the film 12 strong and loved it ,got me thinking Similar to 40k with horsemen with small arms against artillery and tanks and also I’ve  never seen Afghanistan style 40k roughriders ? Seen Mongolians and ,tallarn/Bedouin style and standard style guard .?

You could make your own!  I converted some Taliban motorcycle riders into horsemen:

Sounds great, you'll just need to find some modern weapons to replace or supplement the ones that come with the set.

I can't help you there.  I don't have the Wargames Atlantic figures - I took the expensive route of repurposing Empress Miniatures metal riders!

You can get modern weapons packs from a few different places, like Company B
https://company-b-models-and-miniatures.myshopify.com/collections/accessories/products/accessories-afv-ak47-5

Or Rafm:

I'm not sure who else sells modern weapons separately, but I'm certain there are more options those.

The Assault Group do various nations' modern weapons in 28mm, which, based on my experience with the company, should fit about size-wise with the Empress figures, but might be a bit more "chunky" in style.

Link to the Russian/Soviet/Warsaw Pact section:

https://theassaultgroup.co.uk/product-category/weapons-and-equipment/russian-modern/

That said, are you going for a futuristic setting, or even 40k proper? In the latter case, I'd say use 40k weapons or such-styled ones, but for the former, the best options would probably be the "ultra-modern" varieties (which would quite possibly be hand-me-downs by the time a future guerilla war rolls around lol ).

If for 40k, it’s very easy to convert imperial guard and pop them just about on any mount.

Personally, I’d stick with 40k weapons...never really liked real world modern weapons on heroic scale minis.

I would sooner  convert 28mm afghans than try convert Imperial guard to look like afghan types 👍
