Turmoil on Ragnorak Island (pic heavy)
« on: August 16, 2009, 11:48:34 AM »
1930’s Turmoil on Ragnorak Island (or Pulp adventure at the Goulburn Wargames Club)

The Island of Ragnorak
The RRC

The peaceful Island of Ragnorak has become the centre of International Interest when the Secret Society of VRIL (Proto Nazi Cultists) unearth a strange stone circle on one of the mountains of Ragnorak, The Local Ragnorak Royal Constabulary (RCC) are a little worried by the operation of the VRIL society, so they contact the University of Glasgow asking for the foremost Professor in supernatural archaeology, Professor Buggarov (A White Russian, who came to fame in some certain Black and White, almost Silent Sweedish movies in the thirties) to inspect and survey the strange rock formation.

Professor Buggerov and his assistants Chloe and Zoe

Professor Buggarov brings along his very able assistants Chloe and Zoë (pronounced with a  Russian  accent) and employs Montana Starkadder a well known Adventurer and all round good guy. However Montana mentions the expedition to his Father who informs his youngest Brother Bertram Starkadder (the black sheep of the family) that his older erstwhile brother is off on another “Grand Adventure”.
"Montana" Jack, Elana and Katerina

Bertram just happens to have a love interest with Naughty Lola who leads the Rhino Sky Pirates (RSP) and they also head of to the Island, guessing that VRIL will take there latest Proto type plane the Dornier 335 with them.

Naughty Lola, avaitrix of the Sky Pirates

VRIL Leader Oberst Fatima Von Hreich

Meanwhile the VRIL have contacted  their allies the Imperial Japanese naval commander Teriyaki Kawasaki, and informed him that they have recovered an ancient Samurai Sword and are prepared to trade with the Japanese for some Moon Jade Gem stone, which is only found in Manchuria, VRIL believe that the Moon Jade Gem stone has the ability to power up the stone circle when the Summer Solstice arrives.

Teriyaki Kawasaki’s men contracted the notorious warlord Whoo Flung Dung’s gang to mine the Jade Moon Stone Gems, Teriyaki then refused to pay the warlord, so he has followed the Japanese to the Island to investigate the spoils on the island and just what they need the Jade Moon Gems for.

Finally The Ragnorak Liberation Front lead by Eric Blair (who just wants to write his autobiography), is sick of all of these adventures and general scumbags from upsetting his ideal world.

Noted novelist Eric Blair seemingly somewhat lost during the action

The Chinese Refuse to obey the RCC who ask for passports and a fill out the customs declarations lol

The RRC are not happy and open up with pistols, a A/C and the SE5 (dropping grenades)

the chinese flee away from the RRC

The Sky Pirates meanwhile head towards the Dornier 335

the japanese also arrive at the docks, the RRC plane investigates and cops a warning shot for its troubles

Turn 4-8

the sky Pirates take the dornier forfilling the first part of their mission, however the next event card drawn is wasps, so remain stationary for one turn swatting the pesky blighters, then the remaining sky pirates head off towards the submarine.

The chinese get pinned by the RRC while tring to take out the Dornier while it is on the ground and then get shot up by Naughty Lola in some nasty enfalide fire.  :'(

the japanese also unload the troops and the carrier tank which scares off the RRC armoured car

Meanwhile the survey springs an event card which trigger the enamoured event card, meaning no action for 6 turns, giving time for the Glasgow uni  to plant a bomb amounst the rocks

VRIL also trigger a event card and come up against a RLF werewolf  :o which manages to cut them all to shreds  lol lol

turn 8 to 12
the chinese fail to destroy the dornier so hide behind the church some are still pinned

the werewolf takes on the leader of VRIL Fatima Von Hreich

The mounted RRC chase the japanese tank towards the VRIL castle, pay your arrival tax or we will.....yell at you LOUDLY  lol

Naughty Lola manages to inflict two damge shots of the RCC SE5

The RRC flying corps decide to land, the A/C picks up the pilots who are a little distrissed by events

RLF plant the bomb

Professor Buggerov and Montana return to the car "yelling at the girls "you difuse the bomb" :o

The Japanese manage to swap the gems and start to return to the Submarine

Naughty Lola, the Sky Pirates , the RCC and the chinese try to prevent the link up, desperate
Heroic actions by one Kamakazie car driver with a grenade manages to stop the chinese from being effective, the RRC manage to shoot a majority of the crew abandoning the tank

but two japanese manage to make it to the submarine

Teriyaki Kawasak forfills both of his  missions, 17 shots in the last two turns failed to kill the tough Nippon, who rolled some miraculous saves and still had heroic moves left at the end of the game.

Wow, points all around. Nicely painted minis, a great board, awesome adventure and pictures. And extra points for some amusing and clever character names. A lot of fun there, thanks for sharing it with us.
We haul ours to kick theirs.

a bit of doubling up but it makes for twice the fun..actually Bugarov planted the bomb after surveying and photographing the  stone formation all done under instructions from a shadowy British contact..and Michelle's message, unfortunately delivered only once was misunderstood. It was only after  Bugarov realised that he needed several measurements he had overlooked  that the team returned to the stones, knowing they had 20 minutes to get away .when they arrived back at the stone  they found the freedom fighters were engaged with the almost superhuman Nazi cultist leader..on the FF explained that destroying the stones  would release some unspeakable evil..or worse , so Buggerov detailed Chloe to disarm the bomb, and then jumped into the  Montanmobile and  urged  Elana the driver to reverse "several hundred metre...fast' fortunately  Chloe proved equal to the task with about thirty seconds to spare..good one girl!!!!,  and "Boy" Browning   shot the Vril sniper  who was  in the tower, and causing a bit of concern..with the Vril dispersed and dead and the constabulary  on horseback  and with armoured car  coming into view  the gang mounted up and drove off at speed for their rendezvous with  a British submarine on the other side of the island. The Professor and his  two undergraduate  assistants are back in Glasgow and the whereabouts of "Montana" Jack and his chums is unknown,,though  there was some sort   riot in a bar in Hobart where a number of grenades were detonated..and grenades in a bar is usually an indication that Jack and  crew are around.

Wow!  What an EPIC post!!!  Looks like fun was had by all.  All the minis and terrian were amazing!
Was the Curtiss "Fighter" from the film, "Porco Rosso"?  I had a similiar Curtiss a few years ago, with the prop from a Japanese Zero.

Anyway, Ripping!
So you started a military Coup,
I'm sorry it only back-fired on you.

Greywolf and Starkadder made up a set of 1 page rules, with some special rules for various  groups, all very fast and furious ..a lot of roleplay and   free kriegspiel..
