I liked the new GW Orks at the first glance, but with my old painting method I was not really happy with the results on these...
The until then method consisted of some strong highlighting with an overall wash of Army Painter Quickshade and fitted well to many different ranges I painted in the last years.

When Vallejo introduced their new Xpress color range at Spiel in Essen last October I managed to grab a set of the pre-released 8 colors.
I really liked the first trials using these paints together with the slapchob technique. It gave me boost to my motivation to paint whole armies even with my not particularly improving eye sight.

Have a look for yourself:

Great work on these!
My armies:
- Henry VIII's army (WIP) 15mm
- Ancient Germans (28mm)
- Ancient Belgae (Gauls with German allies) (28mm)
- Massilian Greeks (Greeks and Gallic mercenaries/subjects) (28mm)
- A few EI Romans (28mm)
- Handful of WW2 British (15mm)
- A load of old 1993-1999ish Warhammer Orcs and Goblins

I use a black primer, with a first dry brush of grey and a second very light dry brush of white.
After that only 1 layer of Xpress colors is used and you basicly have the effects shown here. Only the metal is done differently, a medium to to dark metal paint with a Xpress 15/35/50 mixture of yellow, red and water was used here.

All in all I save a lot of time and detailed brushwork.

On the orks it looks magnificent I think, these days I am working on Freebooter's Fate Debonn. These look also very pleasing, but for the faces which got a bit too much of a contrast, but I am working on that issue.
