Fire Kobolds
« on: March 25, 2025, 11:14:26 AM »
Hey everyone. I wanted to share this lush commission for a guy I met locally. He is a blind fellow with two daughters who roleplay, and he wants some painted miniatures to help enthuse their excitement. These models are from the srhine of the Kobold queen box set (a pre made DnD adventure box), and the work plan was "paint them fiery like they're from a fire kingdom". I had a lot of fun playing with speed paints and muddying these little guys (or gals) up. I hope you like them and more images on my blog: https://ezpaintersite.weebly.com/blog/fire-kobolds

Nicely done! I've not seen these models before, they are an almost lizardman take on kobolds.

I would say that you nailed it, they look excellent and the palette definitely is firey. They?re neat looking sculpts, too, as Fred says, more like tiny lizardmen than usual kobolds. I like them a lot!

Echoing what the others have said - great painting on some lovely little figures. I like the way you have varied the skin tones to make them each an individual despite being the same (or very similar) sculpt.

These are the Steamforged ones, right? Great little set, one of the first things I got when I was entering the hobby. Love what you've done with them, the fire is fantastic :-*

Thanks bud! The fire is mostly speed paints with a black and then grey drybrush. I also enjoyed the (weirdly difficult) choice to leave the brazier metal as flame colored. The logic being that the metal itself might "show" but the fire would be so bright that it'd be hard to tell.
