(COMMERCIAL) Brutalist 28-35mm Sci-fi Terrain
« on: February 07, 2022, 02:31:10 AM »
Hello!

My name is Ryan and I run Brutal Cities.

It's a one-man operation designing and making laser cut MDF Modern and Sci-fi terrain in Sydney, Australia. I left my job in Architecture to pursue this as I saw that the type of terrain I wanted wasn't available and I wanted to make different designs for hobbyists into similar building aesthetics.

I'm working on a new release of 15mm Terrain around the end of March! If you have any questions I'll try to answer  :)
The terrain kits are designed to be flexible - due to their minimalist style, it’s easy to add bit’s to ‘40k’ify them. They are really appropriate for many game settings - 1960's through to cyberpunk and sci-fi settings, and even 40k.

I remember back in earlier white dwarf days, before games workshop produced a lot of their own terrain. There was more diversity in style - If the imperium has millions of planets under their control, from feudal worlds to Industrial worlds, It's certain that there are more architecture styles than just Gothic!

The first kits were designed for Infinity N3, and the latest products are designed more for 40k. Currently there are only 28mm kits available, but I'm working on a 15mm range!

You can find out more at www.brutalcities.com and sign up to the email list if you're interested.

Thanks Swiftnick! In a way it feels like a strange time to launch a laser cut MDF business (Launched at the start of the pandemic) And with the advent of 3d printing, but I'm generally happy with the medium of MDF - it suits the type of architecture I like most!

A local! Great! What games do you play or would you use these for?

Hey Ryan,I’m pretty much a modeller these days, however when I do it’s usually mashups of Mordeim/Necromunda or my 1947 setting, sort of Crimson Skies gone grimdark  lol

Fair!

That sounds fun! - sometimes I wonder if it would be possible to live off doing dioramas and ultra-detailed buildings like Joshua Smith!

Oh my God, they're ugly as hell.

Which is great!
They're right out of an urban nightmare like Clockwork Orange, Blade Runner or the London National Theatre.

Adorably misanthropic  bureaucracy cast in concrete with people scurrying around like miserable lab rats in cold and dark corners of labyrinthine animal testing facilities.

Well done!

Do you know the 'Mäusebunker' in Germany, Berlin?

Looks like an ironclad stranded in Godard's Alphaville.

A bit small in reality, but a worthwhile subject for a model.

I remember seeing these ages back and hoped there would one day be some 15mm versions, really like the style of them!  :-*

Thanks a lot everyone!
Appreciate the kind words.

As for
Oh my God, they're ugly as hell.

That cut deep!  ;)
No, I appreciate that it's not everyone's cup of tea. And yes the Mausbunker is fantastic!

Thanks - There's a little more info on the 15mm kits here - https://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=135433.0

I'm planning on doing some kits that will be very useful for Zona Alfa - and try out dry ice instead of a smoke machine!

No, I appreciate that it's not everyone's cup of tea.

I guess, you know I meant they're great, because they are like the real thing?
And because of that I like them.

Nobody would want to play Judge Dredd in a Hundertwasser world, would they?
 :)

Just not to be misunderstood.
