Painting Jungle Fronds
« on: November 07, 2020, 07:31:59 PM »
So I've decided to make booby traps like the one below in the picture done by LAFer "Grimm" back in the day, but I've never had much luck painting jungle fronds. I guess I just can't seem to find the colors that work in a recipe I like.

Anyone care to share suggestions for colors you've had success with?  ???

Bravo Six, I have a go to combo that I use for my foliage. These are all craft paints that are readily available in the States (not so much where I am - but what is?). I undercoat in black, typically Rustoleum flat black. Then I paint in the following trio DecoArt Christmas Green, DecoArt Leaf Green, and Folk Art Yellow Citron. I vary depending on how bright I want the leaves to be. Here are two examples.

Lon, thanks for the reply.

Yeah that's close to what I was looking for. Having said that, I may need to wait a while for craft colors. I was in a Michael's about a week ago and they have almost NO craft paint and they haven't had any in months apparently.  :? And that's ALL Michael's stores around here. Must be a world wide shortage.

I heard oil paints are good for plastic aquarium plants. I think because the oil paint doesnt flake off the same as acrylics. I havent tried this out though.

I saved those links among my favorites.  Lots of useful tips on both.  Enjoy!

Useful info for me as well. I have been trying to get some GW jungle plants to look good and keep falling short. Maybe this will help.
