I always use Vallejo brass for the armour on my Hoplites which looks as good as anything. I'm cogitating on something a bit different for the elite Spartan contingent. They always had the best tackle burnished to a dazzling shine, so what's the best acrylic bronze/brass make of paint for the helmets and armour...
we're talking proper Spartan here, Corinthian helms and bell shaped cuirass, not the daft looking buggers in what look like joke copper's helmets!
The new project... wargaming wise I'm currently fighting the 30 scenarios from Neil Thomas'
'One Hour Wargames' using his WW2 rules and ancient Airfix models, and having a great time doing it solo. I was thinking of following this with OHW ancient rules, Sparta v Athens, then I thunk again... wot about the Persians?
A box each of both armoured/unarmoured infantry would give me all the massed rank tosspots I need, four ten men Infantry units and two units each of eight figure archers and skirmishers. For the two unit mounted mob, two of, either Victrix's Heffelumps or Gripping Beast chariots. Seventy odd painted figures and job's a good 'un.
They're only Persian... how hard can it be?
