The Battle of Copenhagen in 1801 marked a significant move in British assertion of its naval dominance following the victories at Cape St Vincent, Camperdown and Aboukir Bay and its determination to control mercantile commerce with its enemies.
Professor Ole Feldbaek's book, first published in Danish in 1985 and then in English in 2001 for the bicentenary commemoration of the battle, is a fascinating read, documenting the events around the naval battle outside the Danish capital from a Danish perspective, using British, Danish, Swedish, Russian French and Prussian sources.
I have put together my thoughts about this book and if you would like to know more then just follow the link to JJ's.
