Your marines are great, for sure, but that Dread is simply awesome!

If I'm not mistaken, that's not an original metal version, is it? Rather, I think I recognize (under the fantastic sculpting) the resin re-imagining of the RT one. I can't recall the artist's name right now, but I bought his Imperial Robot from him (sculpted to match an RT era illustration) some time ago.

The lines are much too crisp on this version, the legs too long and slightly birdlike, plus; the back crystalline powerplant (whatever that means lol ) is missing. Also; the resin colour is visible through the nubs and holes for the still to be attached parts such as the arms and the powerplant ;) ).

Can't wait to see it finished! 8)
Miniatures you say? Well I too, like to live dangerously...

So cool! There's a charm with those old figures that can often be lacking in some of the newer, fussier sculpts (at least from my own perspective).

You are right, it is a resin Exo-Suit from Troll Soup Miniatures, a fair bit bigger than the original metal RT versions.
I still have some work to do on the 'arms' before I can paint them and the powerplant (I still think of it as an exhaust, to be honest!), which has been shortened a little so that it fits in my cabinet better, before I can throw paint at them.
This may happen tomorrow as I am eager to get it finished so I can move on to the next one.
 ;)

I agree. I even have a metal original that I am slowly restoring (it is missing several parts!) to add to this project, although he may seem quite small compared to these resin versions.

Dreads looking great! Interested to see what you do with the exhaust bit, I think that’s the weakest part of the model

Cheers, mate!
 :D

The arms and exhaust are nearly done.
I should finish the conversion work today and, hopefully, get them painted and stuck on soon.
Then I just have to do the other two.....

Looking forward to seeing what you’ve done with the exhaust/power plant

Nothing too complicated, just bulked it out a bit....

Now ready for painting and adding to the Dread.

Interesting.  The texture detailing (scales?) on it remind me slightly of the more biological look of the Chaos dread from the 2nd ed era.  Not a bad thing, that was a much better sculpt than the original loyalist dreads were.
