Oathmark Archipelago
« on: December 08, 2020, 01:47:08 PM »
I did a solo play test of the Oathmark rules for a game I hope to run at a convention some day.

I set it in the Frostgrave Ghost Archipelago setting.

A full game report with plenty more pictures can be found on my blog here:

Thats a beautiful setting! I like the ambiance, its really exotic (far away from classic fantasy), and very harmonic.

A great report.

Having read the boat rules in Battlesworn, I did think about an island hopping campaign, and this report re-kindled the thought.

Excellent.

What a brilliant and inspiring idea to set Oathmark-style fighting in the Ghost Archipelago! The final duel was particularly thrilling!

@Akula - Umbum (that's one of their names anyway - will certainly come up on amazon uk etc)

What do you have under the mat to make hills with?

I have spent a couple hours going through old posts on your blog... looks like you have already played games similar to ideas I have for a project, Napoleonic Gothic Horror. Your gaming is truly inspirational. You have such a brilliant imagination!

Thanks for all the kind words!  I'm glad you enjoyed the report.

As mentioned, the ships are from a company called Umbum or sometimes the models can be found under the name Clever Paper.  Amazon and a number of other places on the web have them for relatively low prices.  They are excellent models, punch-out and slot together, even the rigging instructions are pretty easy.  They also make a great set of medieval buildings that have accessible, pre-printed interiors.

Speaking of buildings, the two domed structures are 3d prints from Enders Toys, a set called Greek Ruined Buildings: https://www.endertoysterrain.com/collections/terrain/products/greek-ruined-buildings.

The sphynxes and other obelisk thingees are from Crocodile Games but apparently don't appear on their website - I had bought them from Crocodile's stand at a convention.  Email mail them to see if they are available.

This was a lot of fun so I may make it a series of games covering the course of "Queen Melwyn's Conquest."

As I mentioned, the mat is from Cigar Box Mats.  I simply put trimmed pieces of styrofoam under them.  The Cigar Box mats are great for this, they really lay well over formers.
