What a fantastic response to a great idea! Some great bat reps and some lovely figures.

Mine own forces are somewhat inadequate to the occasion as yet ,not being able to raise enough to take the field. However such as they are did commsion an arraiy in honour of the event.

I have a bad case of prescient nostalgia. The future's not what it used to be.

There are some wonderful miniatures and scenery in the last few bat rep entries. Lovely gaming eye candy.

Late entries, or a disappointing turnout? I was hoping to see at least ere this a dozen dozen in this place.
The laws of probability do not apply to my dice in wargames or to my finesses in bridge.

Hay Castle, in the recent Battle of Tolpit's Field, was flying a number of flags throughout the battle; Lee didn't capture them on film, but fortunately I did. They can be replaced with Lancastrian banners, though taking a castle is so difficult nobody ever attempts it!
The model needed a little work before painting, since every single tower was provided with an obvious gateway - not a discreet little sally-port, please note - but a few minutes with builder's plaster sorted it out. The modeller clearly hadn't quite worked out what medieval fortifications were for.

Hi all, I note from page 1 of this thread that battle reports were encouraged to go onto social media. I am not enrolled with the main social media groups, no doubt my loss as a wargamer, but I wondered whether those that gamed and posted to social media, would throw a photo or two onto here, just as a catch-all. Thanks Norm.

One picture only from our Towton game...

I am holding fire on the report until we have fought the other battles that preceeded this one.

Mmm, pretty (though something odd is happening with the trees).

The prelude to the 1st Battle of St Albans. My second game of the War of Rose Battle Weekend, hosted by my old friend Mike Wall in the Forest of Dean which took place last Sunday.

The Yorkist advance on the village

Lord Essex is killed on the Lancastrian left

The battle is heating up in the village of Mapleswick, whilst the Yorkist attempt to hold the Lancastrians off on their left

The Yorkist left and right flank begins to fold, whilst the centre battle sweeps the Lancastrians out of the village

Despite a valiant effort by Lord Warwick and the Duke of York, the enveloping Lancastrian forces had taken too much out of the Yorkists for them to secure the road to St Albans. Lancastrian Victory!!!

A big thank you to Mike for hosting and a even bigger thank you to Marilyn for putting on such a splendid lunch  :-*
