'Old Skool' 30mm American Civil War...
« on: December 14, 2020, 12:37:08 AM »
I made a command decision when I retired to the seaside regarding my two 'Old Skool' collections. Keep the Airfix Napoleonic's and sell the Spencer Smith ACW figures. Eighteen months later someone wants to buy them, so down they came from the loft to march away...
only they haven't and are not going to either, I've fallen back in love with them, if only for the happy memories I get from just looking at them. Tickling up and mounting on movement trays has commenced. Two down, twenty two to go!

I like these a lot.  They remind me of the old SAE Miniatures.

There are some SAE Miniatures mixed in the collection, you might spot 'em when I get around to the full fashion parade!

All the 30mm ACW collection is now re-based. When our current game is finished there'll be a fashion parade of both sides!
My ignorance of the period is second to none, did they still have, split or snake rail fences, during the ACW?

Love is a wonderful thing. They look marvelous.
And the glorious general led the advance
With a glorious swish of his sword and his lance
And a glorious clank of his tin-plated pants. - Dr. Seuss

The bases for the Artillery have just dropped through the letter box. Last push, and then a fashion parade for the Army that almost never was!

They are so brilliant in their imperfection! I can really understand why you love them.

Thanks for that, I'm glad I didn't sell them now. I'm even contemplating adding to the collection! Peter at SSM has brought out a couple of new dismounted Cavalry figures and a standing horse without rider. I can see the 4th Virginia Cavalry in a skirmish line with the horse holders to the rear. The gunner, who looks like he's wheeling the gun forward, would make an excellent hose holder!

:)
