Tap's Gaslands Update 16.04.2021
« on: December 20, 2020, 08:33:12 PM »
Not got round to buying the rules yet as lockdown means I'd have no-one to play with anyhow.

Saw some cars for £1 in Wilko so bought a few; along with the half dozen I picked up second hand for pennies I will have plenty to put together a few teams for post Covid meetups.

Here's the first of the Wilko cars, happy with my first attempt.

Looking good. As you have found its easy to pick up cars for Gaslands, you have done better than me at painting them up though!

Fairly simple paint job but before priming I create a bubbly rust effect on wheel arches and sills with thin superglue and a sprinkling of bicarb of soda - helps with the dry brushing.

Prime grey, paint base colours, wash with 40/40/20 nuln oil/aggrax earthshade/water, drybrush sand, drybrush silver (heavy where required, light on edges) then drybrush and stipple some areas with orange for rust.

Nice! What bits did you use?

Mostly from the Northstar Implements of Carnage sprue.

The front and rear window grills are plasterers scrim tape and the wheels are from an Anyscale models Jeep with axles made from old sprue frames.

And did you strip the original paint, or just primed on it?

Didn't strip the paint, just stuck on all the bits and primed the whole thing with Halfords grey car primer.

Then just a couple of hours to paint.

Very nice.

Trying to resist 20mm vehicles (I succumbed to the figures...).

Resistance is futile.

Some good looking conversions there. I also have that pickup which I've paint stripped ready for building.

Another conversion, this time using parts from 2 cars, plus some old sprue and Gaslands bits.

Avoided a full repaint this time as Uno was a family favourite when my kids were little.
