The green man - bust sculpt, now painted/gilded
« on: December 23, 2020, 11:05:27 PM »
Knocked up this small bust this evening - I timed it, and this took me exactly 5 episodes of the simpsons.

I wanted him to have a sort of green man/woodwose/druid look, perhaps a bit aged due to the winter hence the collar of holly.

I'll get him painted up over the next couple of days probably.

Sculpted from my usual fimo/supersculpey 50/50 mix.

Incredible work!  :o

I love the different textures. It really looks like he's made of leaves and bark!

Will he be available to buy? I'd love to paint him!

I hadn't really thought that far ahead... If enough people want one then i could cast a few up, Although i might sculpt a second version with casting in mind since there's lots of holes and undercuts here that would make it a nightmare.

Thankyou all for the kind words. I really enjoy making busts so knwoing they're well received is lovely.

I spent some time painting him today as a nice christmas eve activity. I tried giving him a traditional all green paintjob but he started to look like old gregg so i quickly changed. I decided to follow a more autumnal look with turning leaves, and chose to use gold leaf for the face to give him a more regal look. this is just regular gold leaf with green and red washes applied to add dimension and shadow to the face/blend the gold into the leaves (and tone down the shine)

I'm pretty happy with him. :)

So from nothing but a thought to a finished piece in 24 hours.

Amazing.

Amazing.

the joys of tier 3 ;)

I generally try and get things done in as quick a timeframe as possible- the longer i let something lie the more likely i am to get distracted and start something else  lol
