Some Infinity Armies
« on: December 24, 2020, 11:45:31 AM »
With the new N4 Edition of Infinity the Game I decided to dip my Toes in it again, since I quit Infinity in N2. Over the last 2 Month I painted up two Armies so far und will expend them over the upcoming Christmas Hollidays with the Kaldstrom YuJing Starter Army and the PanO parts of Kaldstrom. The PanO Army so far is a second Hand Collection from the old Icestorm Starterset. I´ve converted several Miniatures to fit them better to the actual Kaldstrom Figures.

I made some Rounds over the last weeks. Not yet full N4 but a mix of it and Code One. So far I feel very comfortable with the Changes they did. It seems to be more streamlined and easier to recognize what which figure can do in the Game.

Very nice brushwork!

And I'm a fan of transparent bases too; those look purpose made for Infinity?

Good to hear, because after a hiatus of several years, my regular opponent ( The Voivod) and I finally got a few games of Infinity (3.0) in, over the last month.

And even though we played it a lot back in the day (mostly 2nd ed) we were almost dumbstruck with how convoluted and often illogical we found the rules all of a sudden!

It was never the simplest of rulesets to begin with, but I remembered it as being quite realistic ( as far as scifi rulesets can be, obviously lol ), especially when it comes to tactics and maneuvering.

So we already agreed we're hoping the 4th ed set will eliminate a lot of the rather weird choices made (probably for balancing reasons). Therefore it's good to hear the newest set plays tighter than the last one; we've both invested way too much in this game by this time to demote it and its gorgeous minis  to being pure shelfwarmers...

Miniatures you say? Well I too, like to live dangerously...

Yes its defenately less unecassary complicate compared to what I´ve seen of Ed3. They significantly reduced the whole Hacking stuff. They brought down the amount of programs down to 16 or 17. And they changed the way Skills are organized together. Now each Skill is written to the Unit and mostly including its main effect. Its no longer a Skill XY of Level 2 which can include more crazy stuff as level 1 but is not more explained. Now all effects have their own skill. This can lead to Units with 8+ Skills, but since they stand all for a single effect  its still much more handy and sorted.

Last days progress:
The last Miniature from the old Icestorm Starterbox for PanO is done, a Akalis Sikh Commando. Now I need a little break from the Blue and swap to Yellow^^
The Zanshi is the first Miniature I´ve finished from the new Kaldstrom Box. The other 9 YuJIng Figures of the Box and the Expasion will follow now step by step.

Yes they are custom made for these Figures. The little Advantage to have a Lasercutter in the Arsenal.

Thx Guys!

I´ve finished a small YuJing Army over Christmas. Beautifull Sculpts, that I really enjoyed to paint!
