Lovely battle report from a first-timer!
« on: August 30, 2022, 01:53:13 PM »
Obviously I am biased as I ran the game, but I assure you no money changed hands … I had the pleasure of introducing my Hungarian friend Péter Bayer to his first ever miniatures wargame. He's written a very witty and entertaining report here:

It's well worth a read, regardless of whether you've any interest in the historical battle itself (Pákozd, from the Hungarian War of Independence of 1848-1849) or the ruleset we used (BBB).

Interesting, thanks for sharing.

I've vaguely heard about this war (mentioned in some book by old Karl, or was it his friend Friedrich, that I did read when I was a student...) :D but as most people I didn't know any details and names of battles.

Haha, yes, old Karl and Friedrich did have a thing or two to say, didn't they. One of the best histories of the war was actually by another German revolutionary, Wilhelm Ruestow:

It's the conflict I like to describe as "Europe's biggest unknown war" because it was so large and long and yet, although plenty of people know of it, not many of us know much about it:

Excellent report!
And the glorious general led the advance
With a glorious swish of his sword and his lance
And a glorious clank of his tin-plated pants. - Dr. Seuss
