My First VSF Figures Painted
« on: October 13, 2020, 11:34:31 AM »
My first VSF / In Her Majesty’s Name figures painted.

Based the colour scheme on the 95th Rifles as my father served in the Durham Light Infantry and I wanted to reflect a light infantry themed regiment of the appropriate era

I've another 6 more to do, these were a colour trial, but I like the results.

Colours used if anyone's interested

Primer GW Seer Grey
  • Boots, Hat, Metals (base coat): Vallejo Black Grey with Nuln Oil Wash
  • Jacket: Vallejo Luftwaffe Green, GW Agrax Wash, highlighted with German Camo Bright Green
  • Jacket Cuff: Vallejo Black Grey left piping Seer Grey from Primer
  • Trousers: Army Painter Uniform Grey with Nuln Oil Wash, Army Painter Ash Grey
  • Webbing/Equipment, Vallejo Black Grey, Vallejo German Camo Beige, Vallejo Flat Brown, Vallejo Tan, GW Agrax Wash
  • Flesh: Vallejo Tan, Army Painter Tanned Flesh, GW Flesh Wash, Army Painter Barbarian Flesh, Vallejo Pale Flesh
  • Metals: Vallejo Brass (Badges), Vallejo Silver (Breastplate/Buttons/Buckles), GW Leadbelcher (Weapons)
  • Goggles, Straps/Chin Straps: Vallejo Beige Brown
  • Goggles Lens: Vallejo Periscopes with 2 light blue lens highlights of Vallejo Deep Sky Blue and Sky Blue
  • Eyes: Off white, dotted with a very fine line pen

Technique
  • Prime
  • Base Colours and Washes
  • Used a wet palette to mix base colours into highlights

Note: I've not had much success with a wet palette, used a lot less water and it worked so much better. Using the Army Painter wet palette

Good paint work on great looking figures, especially like the Armoured guy with weird rifle, what brand are they?

Very nice painting.
I avoid close ups when photographing my figures.  :D

Very well done!

But, with breastplates wouldn't they be classed as heavy infantry?
