Want!

I'd really like to have a roman army with a couple of roman legions and a couple of allied legions.  When you start on your second Roman allied legion, will you stick with the white theme or switch it up with something else?

Many thanks, its an interesting question. My Roman Legion is in all Red so I'm going to stick to white for the rest of the Italian Allied Legion. If I went on to do more it would be while as I need to build up my Punic forces to match the Romans next.

I'd have to look more into it, red Romans and white Italian Allied were the colours people always used when I did my first (6mm) Ancient Armies in the 80s, since then people have moved onto other colours but that seems to be more of a tabletop recognition thing rather than new research.

If I get through these before the 21st March I think I will be having a Roman break  lol

Those look great.  Those are some seriously large shields to be carrying on horseback.

And no stirrups! I used to be a fair horseman, but there's no way I could do it.

Moving on to the second line of the Legion now with 32 Principes

https://thepaintingchallenge.blogspot.com/2021/02/kenr-28mm-italian-allied-legion.html

The progress photo at the end fills me with a bit of hope that I might actually get this done.

If you do take time to click on the link above it would be great if you have a look round some other posts on the Analogue Hobbies Winter Paint Challenge some great entries this year.

See you in a couple of days for some Commanders.

Closing in on the end now, the second of two, two figure, Command Bases, these Victrix horses are lovely but rather large, not sure if three would fit on a 60mm frontage like the rest of my Cavalry.

Last batch of Principes next.

Above is the second batch of 32 Principes, not far to go to reach projects end now, just 1 Cavalry the Triarii and a Command Base to go.
