Adepta Sororitas
« on: November 03, 2020, 03:37:34 PM »
The Adepta Sororitas Army Set that came out about a year ago is truly spectacular. I never purchased it myself, but now I had a chance to paint it as a commission for @Agis. Loved every minute of it! I'm seriously considering starting a Sororitas kill team of my own (or even an army some day, if I get crazy enough). Along with the small army, I got to paint a bunch of imperial terrain, including the Adepta Sororitas Battle Sanctum.
There are three models (Repentia, Flagellant and Battle Sister) mixed in there that were painted by Agis himself. They are marked in the photos with a +.

Oh, splendid. I love this stuff.

I really love the somewhat creepy 'Gothic Space-Catholicism' (for want of a better term) vibe that comes from the religious lore of modern era 40K. It is something that appeals to me much more than the original "Elves, Dwarves and Orcs in Space" thing we started with back in the 80s, and that they seemed to have dialled back quite a bit since then. I really must get and paint some Sisterhood figures myself one day. Probably not ever going to start playing 40K again, but I think I'd like to paint a few.

Terrific!  Really captures the gloom of a gothic cathedral with the grimdarkness of the 40k setting.  I think Sisters are becoming more iconic (no pun intended) to the real spirit of 40k than marines are, these days (much as I love the Primaris designs).

Lovely dark paint jobs :-* :-* :-*
But I am totally lost with the background of these figures
Who is the Nun with the wings?
And what are the cherubs?
These things all have the taint of chaos in my eyes?

Thank you so much everyone!

@gamer Mac - as far as I know, these are perfectly ordinary Imperial warriors from the Order of out Martyred Lady. The winged nun is a model from Anvil Industry. I don't know what Agis will use her as, but my guess would be Celestine. In the lore cherubs are cybernetic creatures commonly used by the Ecclesiarchy, so I doubt they have any chaos in them. These particular ones carry ammo and a censer into battle for the sisters.  :)

Fantastic work. The sister miniatures really work well with your painting style. I am hugely envious of your work, it's excellent.

You really did a bang up job with that terrain, especially the ruined cathedral.  It looks very grimy and ruined, exactly what you would want.  The sisters themselves look fantastic too.
