Loving those mate, really like the grey looking gamberson.

I also am not a great fan of his archers as much as the foot, only have my 16 archers to complete for my scottish army. Then starting the rest of the English then the French later this year.

Cheers
Matt

Cheers, Matt. I have to admit I'm leaning more to Plan A at the moment and cherry-picking some of his Crecy archers he did for Claymore, as they look more period correct to me. But I'll wait and see if any more emerge in this range.

A wee treat, next- not pikemen! Some Bickley scuplts from the Claymore Crecy range that I thought looked appropriate. All have been subtly modified to look a wee bit more in keeping with the setting.

This first guy just got his axe head re-profiled to more realistic proportions.

Proudly not painting Wars of The Roses since... ever

Thanks very much, guys, you are all too kind!

This guy was just a straightforward weapon-swap with an axe from (I think) Gripping Beast. Pleased with the colour combination on him though. The ruddy red-brown is one I really like for gambesons, but it's mixed up from 4 or 5 different colours and it's a pain in the arse to replicate!

Cheers guys!

Quite possibly! I just went through all the weapon packs on the GB, Front Rank and 1st Corps sites and ordered all the ones which looked "right", which included some very odd origins, including Russians, Timurids and Mongols, I think!  :o

Been there and done that on many a occasion! There are parts in my various bits boxes that go back to the 80's  lol

On the subject of weapon swaps, this guy was probably the most in depth so far. He had his weird, semi-fantastical mace/godendag swapped out (I managed to drill the haft out of his hands far more neatly that I had any right to do...) for a more appropriate axe. One from GB (possibly Russian?) was very similar in shape to ones pictured on West Highland graveslabs, so I used that with a bit of reprofiling, and gave him a buckler, which is actually an 18th century Jacobite targe from Front Rank, since he looked a bit less well protected than his colleagues. I think it came out quite well.

A lovely dynamic figure, complimented by some beautiful painting! He really looks the part, and the conversion work makes him look much more Scottish.
