Thank you all, chaps, most kind.

The movement tray really makes them feel like a real group of soldiers which is a nice break from the rank and file regiments that often look a bit small for what they're meant to be.
Cheers, it actually looks a bit better in the hand; I think the phone lens is slightly convex and makes them look more spread out than they actually are. It's a nice dense hedge of spearpoints in reality.

Cracking on, though, I decided to try to complete the unit of raiders to give myself a break from painting spear. First up is a conversion from an Antediluvian Miniatures spearman, given a falchion and (perhaps slightly large) buckler. Came out quite well, though, I thought.

Proudly not painting Wars of The Roses since... ever

Another converted raider complete, again based on an Antediluvian Miniatures spearman. I've permitted myself a bit of poetic licence with this chap, wanted to do a figure with something of the primal about him, to give a real "fringes of Europe" feel, without tripping into the fantasy berserker trope. Armed him with the nebulous "brogit staff" (which tends to feature in later records, but given it translates basically as "spiky stick", I don't buy that no one ever had the idea of making something similar in the 14th century), and gave him a round shield, which would probably have been on the decline by then, but I doubt completely unknown, particularly Up North or on the western seaboards...

Thank you, guys!

Haha, thanks! There's nothing really very technical about it I'm afraid; I just select/mix up an appropriate colour, then add progressively more white to the highlights... that's it!

Got Sir Cailean Campbell finished today, his gyrony of eight proved more tricky to get looking right on all those folds than I had anticipated. And of course it features the thrice-cursed yellow...

Cruachan!
