Over the Christmas break Honorable Son #5 (The Skirmisher) and myself played an oldie but goodie: Games Workshops' The Battle of Five Armies. The Battle of Five Armies using the Warmaster rules concept, one of the more innovative sets of rules developed. We see its influence, combat and activation system in many subsequent rules that have been written. Sadly, it is out of production.

Cool looking armies

Great to see the full set painted up and on the table. I’ve got loads of these figures (probably 1.5 sets worth) and a mate has probably 2 sets worth of the goblins, but we’ve only played the actual battle once.

But we do keep talking about playing the battle of 5 armies!

Cracking looking battle, good looking armies and best of all it looked like it was time well spent and great fun.
