ChargeDog's Adventures in WW2 - Winter Brits
« on: February 02, 2021, 10:02:50 PM »
Finally getting round to actually starting my WW2 project (as opposed to last time where I just talked about it and got distracted), I've actually painted some models! The WW2 Brits are my focus for the next few weeks of hobby, beginning with a few warlord models before moving onto the Empress figures for the main platoon

More details, including colours, are on the blog at https://www.hntdaab.co.uk/blog/2021/02/02/sitrep-project-ww2-begins/

Really fine painting on your figures.
You caught the look of the last days of the war.
Look out for your buddies and keep your head down.
You don't want to be one of the last to die for your county.

Nice job..I really like the winter troops and you have captured the cold brilliantly.  Always a shame they release one box and don’t follow up with support options for them though.

Nicely painted as otherd say. When you have done the Empress models can you take a comparison picture please with the warlord figures to see how they look together. Normally avoid Warlord nowadays but those look very good.

Thanks in advance

Cheers

Thanks everyone for the kind words (and glad to hear I nailed the horrible gritty winter look). These models are lovely and packed full of great details, a little chunky but it makes all the details easy to paint.

I managed to get another four guys done, leaving only the section leader and his 2IC with the sten guns to finish tomorrow. Still more fun with lots more mud on the knee, elbows and coat bottoms.

They look thoroughly muddy, cold and miserable. Cracking job.

Finished squad done, finished off the 2IC and Section Leader today. Love the guy on the left (the 2IC), the just the pose and the greatcoat + helmet + cap combo.

Better photos of the whole section tomorrow but I loved painting these guys and I need more figures in greatcoats!

Excellent. Really capture the feel of a veteran section

Thanks for the comments everyone - I'm really enjoying these guys, and can't wait to get to work on the Empress guys.

Next up (and to finish off my Warlord figures that are not the box of Paras waiting for me) are the pair of British Snipers in camo suits. I edited one of them to be an injured spotter instead, ditching the rifle for a Sten gun.

Love the painting but I would be interested to see one with a couple of winter tufts and a few melting snow patches?
