I received an email today from Andrew Bruce of Grimsby telling me that the listing for my (recently closed) business is now online in his new directory.

Andrew is padding out his new "Wargames Directory" but it's not just a link. They added my business and reproduced copyright material from my personal blog without seeking permission.  I have no control over the content.  I have asked for it to be removed and it appears to have been.

You may welcome this sort of "free" advertising but this is dodgy.

As a follow up: the "new" website can also be reached from www.10mm-wargaming.com  which I remember as  a  "scraper site"s using re-posting public news feeds to generate ad revenue.  Thanks to the web archive I have been able to confirm this.  See - https://web.archive.org/web/20200806094450/https://www.10mm-wargaming.com/ & https://web.archive.org/web/20200817182434/https://www.blogger.com/profile/00593548287030744605

If you value your brand you may need to keep an eye on this.

Follow up: apparently I was sent an email giving me details and password of an account created on my behalf so I could edit my entry.

Sadly, it never arrived and I missed the opportunity to visit a web site I've never heard of and log in to an account I never created.   :-[ ;D

OT: Sadly, such behaviour is not limited to the Wargames industry. The company I work for was once listed in a "disposal service portal" created by a former sales operative who didn't make it through their probationary period (or didn't stay on thereafter, good riddance in any case), followed by mails and letters oh-so-politely listing how many people had (allegedly) seen our entry and wouldn't we want to upgrade to a "Pro" account for the respective fee.

You have to marvel at the guts of some folks. But I guess that's why they are in sales.

Still, especially on the hobby tangent, I find the behaviour rather disingenuous. Thanks for pointing it out, I've taken the liberty of expanding/clarifying the topic title a bit.
