Compatibility of 25-28mm Gladiators
« on: March 10, 2021, 04:45:51 PM »
Hi,

I am trying to determine what manufacturers work well together size wise – I realize some are slightly off – but some just don't work as well.

I have found that Wargames Foundry, Crusader and Brigade Games figures work really well together.

But would really value some input the following – if they will work mixed in with the three listed above:

Reaper
Harlequin – I think went to Black Tree Design?
Gladiator Wars – West Wind/Old Glory
RAFM
Castaway – I think they are too small
Steve Barber – these might be too small as well

Any input greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Frank

Long time since I played with either, but I remember my Foundry and Harlequin ones looked fine together.

I didn't get any Steve Barber ones as I already had enough Gladiators, but I did use his spectators to populate my amphitheatre. They are quite small, and if the gladiators are the same size I think they would look pretty puny up against the others I mentioned. Didn't matter for the background crowd, though.

Don't have any of the others you mentioned.

I can't speak specifically to gladiator figures, but my RAFM figures are noticably smaller than all my others (including Wargames Foundry)

I have the Foundry and Steve Barber gladiators and also the Crusader ones. They are all much the same height, but the Steve Barber fellows are noticeably scrawniness and the anatomy is a bit odd in places.
They all look fine together on the table though

The first Gladiators I had were Mini-Figs.
Way too small to fit in with any of the firms mentioned.
They also seemed to be wearing huge (filled) nappies!
I was very happy to pass them on to some youngsters &
buy better.

Gladiator Wars are pretty scrawny compared to Foundry and Crusader.

You also have CP-models but they are on the small side.
Their civilians however might be interesting.
Also they have gladiator heads separated that are usefull for conversions.

Hi Rui,
I think those are the old Steve Barber line.  Alas way too small.
