[COMMERCIAL] STAR SCHLOCK: Minis inspired by 70s and 80s sci-fi.
« on: February 28, 2021, 01:56:41 AM »
Hello there fellow miniature enthusiasts! I've been working on a set of miniatures and rules for sci-fi gaming that draws inspiration from the films, television and comics of the 70s and 80s. I finally have the project in shape to start bringing it to Kickstarter and I thought I'd give you a heads up in case you'd be interested in this sort of thing.

I'll be producing some sci-fi troops first:

But I have half a dozen other singles that will be available as add-ons:

If this sounds like your sort of thing, I encourage you to sign up for updates on my website. Happy gaming!

The pictures didn't load for me.  But I did amble over to your website to peek, and signed up for updates.

Best of luck,

-Michael

You have definitely piqued my interest.  Very nice models.

Looks cool, whilst not literally within the era (more spiritually) have you  considered adding a (legally distinct) Lensmen to your crew ?

I hadn't considered Lensmen, but I'll take a look! My early cutoff date is 1968, but it looks like some later Lensmen books and adaptations were lingering into the 80's, so it might work.

It helps that (as the grand daddy of space opera) the characters often fit the mold of "ģeneric sci fi", with Kimball Kinnison (main character) just  wearing a silvery-grey uniform, raygun and wrist mounted lens.

On the troopers are the capes a separate, optional piece?

The figures with capes on my website were proof of concept figures using parts I sculpted as well as bits kitbashed from plastic kits. I intend to release a version of the Astroguards with capes, but they won't be ready for this Kickstarter. If my initial Kickstarter is a success I intend to create a second shortly after fulfilling the first to continue expanding the line. I hope to get the caped Royal Astroguards into that second Kickstarter.
