Blitz Bowl is a great wee game, and GW's decision to lock it to specific retailers, none of which are in the UK is a terrible shame.

I enjoyed the idea of Blood Bowl, but found it a god damn mess once you got past a couple of games...hence why I actually like the computer version.  I have heard people rave about Blitz Bowl(?) or whatever the smaller/toned down version is.

Your minis look pretty damn good, and I've weirdly seen a lot of people taking the newer Blood Bowl minis to use for other games and making dungeon crawler adventurers out of them, etc.

Love Blood Bowl, we'd just started a new league locally last winter when COVID cruelly snatched it from us - I'd played one game with my Lizards.

The humans look good, can't wait to see what you do with the orcs. If you're looking for a fun third team, it is my belief that every BB player should own and play a goblin team. They're chaotic, weird, honestly bad at most of the game, and they are true Blood Bowl. One day I want to organize a Stunty Leeg of gobbos, snotlings, halflings, and nothing more!

Your miniatures look great.  Thanks for posting the photos.

Our local (well, a 45-minute drive for me) game store got everyone fired up for blood bowl's current edition.  I wound up buying the starter and selling off the teams for pulp alley stuff since the four teams I already have are enough.  I've gotten in a couple of games with a regular gaming buddy so we can learn the updated rules.  A league is supposed to start in the nearish future pending vaccines, state gathering restrictions, etc.

Isn't there Guild ball as well? I've heard good things about it years ago but it looked to have become bloated or had poor balancing of late?

Guildball went out of production in june or july 2020.
They said that the game had gotten too big and they couldnt keep developing it and keep it balanced.

I too heard good things about it, but never tried it. I think they made a good call on stopping it, looking and games like Warmachine and Malifaux, they have gotten huge and unweildy.

Thanks for the comments.

I agree about BlitzBowl.  Seems a very odd choice not to release it everywhere.

Here's the latest recruit in extreme close up.

I was a little tired when I did her so the painting wasn't quite as neat

The eyes on this one didn't quite go right.  Reminds me somewhat of this joke meme

I got into BB back in the CRP days when GW had abandoned it. Played in a great local league and ended up being the commish the past several seasons. BB is such a weird game - football-themed push-your-luck chess with a campaign system - but I loved it.

When BB2016 came out, I was excited - GW is going to make the game better! Then in the middle of putting out books for the current version, they put out a whole new version and left the old one unfinished. (My GW-loving friends tell me this is common practice, but it felt pretty shoddy to me.)

The 'rona has thus far saved us from making any decisions, but I have a feeling this will kill the league. If we ever get it together again, it will likely be under the old CRP rules.

Sometimes, dead is better... :)

Well the first team are painted.  I need to base them and put their numbers on.  Probably need to get some gloss and matt varnish first .

Still have the star player and big guy to paint.

Blitzers

Bodyguards

Linemen (and women)

Throwers

Hopefully the weathers OK at the weekend to let me get an undercoat on the orcs.

Thanks.  Well they are finished.

Decided on green grass in the end for the bases.

First test black orc

I need to paint his finger nails and was planning on putting his number on his shoulder pad.  I'm happy with the colours matching the LA Rams.  The metal work needs toning down a bit but overall I'm Ok with it so will proceed with the rest.

Great job on the minis!

Love Blood Bowl. Been playing since 1994.

I haven't bought the latest edition. How does it compare to the previous one?
