Blue Moon 15/18mm Gallic Cavalry Fit Question.
« on: March 08, 2021, 12:10:54 AM »
I recently got a bunch of Blue Moon Gallic cavalry.

The riders do not fit on the horses. The horses are a lot rounder than the saddle will fit.

They are nice figures but there shouldn’t have to be this much work!

It’s not a simple widen the legs issue, it’s more like a lot of sanding needs to be done. No, they are not miscast with lots of flash or anything.

Anyone else have this problem?

I have seen this sometimes with 15mm figs. Have you tried carefully levering the legs open a little?

That has worked for me in the past - but not tried it with bluemoon models.

Hmmm, back when I purchased a load of Republican Romans and Gauls/Germans of the Blue Moon range from Old Glory in the US, I didn't have any issues with gluing the riders on their horses. They are never a perfect fit but I don't recall being frustrated by the process either.

That was soon after the range came out though. If that makes a difference?

Anyhow good luck with 'em.

I have several cavalry packs from ancients to medieval and nothing of that sort happened.
Quite the opposite. Big legs and small horses.
My bit of advise contact them and explain what is happening and if that is a common issue with that pack.
It may be that the horses are the wrong ones.

Being lead and much softer I’m going to suppose they have had their legs compressed from weight and time.

So, using some reverse pliers I have been carefully expanding their legs and this allows them to fit.

It’s just a lot of work.
