Zulu War Mealie bag redoubt for 28mm?
« on: March 06, 2021, 10:48:38 AM »
Hi, where can I get a nice looking mealie bag redoubt for 28mm Zulu War please?

I'd love to get my hands on the Warlord Games one, but it is no longer in their webstore!

What other options are out there, if I can no longer get the Warlord one?

Thanks.

Damn, I was going to recommend the Warlord stuff, it is really quite nice. Both the redoubt pieces and the linear sections. Didn't know you couldn't get them any more.

Good news, bad news!

The good news, the Warlord Games mealie bag redoubt is still available!

The bad news, it's $480.00! (You have to buy the Horns of the Buffalo - Rorke's Drift collectors edition set to get it as it isn't available by itself)

Raglan that's a great looking set up!  :-*

I messaged Warlord via Facebook, and received a prompt reply from customer service.

Its possible it is no longer available as a separate piece from the box set, but its more likely it has been temporarily removed during recent offer periods, customer service will know more once they hear off the sales team. Fingers crossed it will be back in the webstore in a few days! If not, then hopefully it'll still be possible for me to order one anyway.

Its a really nice piece of terrain.

Thumbs up to Warlord Customer Service for a prompt reply, what ever the outcome I appreciate them taking the time to look into it.

I had the same reply back in Jan when the barricades were showing as "sold out", but they then reappeared.

Btw a seller on ebay UK always seems to have quite a few of their barricades individually on a regular basis.

Be aware the mealie bag redoubt, as nice as it is, needs some serious reshaping to align the 2 halves. I was advised this wasn't a dodgy casting, but a very old mould.

I am pretty sure it would not be hard to make your own and that one could make it look better - frankly the Warlord Games one does not look right to me.

Agreed both halves do not fit perfectly. I placed both my halves on a base and filled in the gap with some green stuff. Once painted it looked fine

Two options here if you're happy to assemble the redoubt yourself.
I'd opt for making my own, the representations we commonly see are too small to be accurate I feel.
A final redoubt with firing steps would have to have been larger than often portrayed.

Agreed, simple exercise with milliput or green stuff.

If you make your own, resist the temptation to use dried beans. I did that, and the weevils did what the Zulus couldn't!

I used the Pegasus prepainted curved sandbag walls.
