Interesting stuff. Thanks for the contributions. (I still like shiny armour though  ;) :D)

Meanwhile, ahead of Bloody Release 5 (the Scots), I've converted a couple more Scots...
The standard bearer is one of the villagers from 'The Village People' pack, with a Scottish head from the spare heads pack. Hand-painted flag on tomato puree tube foil.
The hairy auld retainer is another head swap onto one of 'The Squire's Men', with a Green Stuff bonnet and beard.
The laird, already shown further up this thread, is from the 'The Militant Tendency' pack, with a pistol hand swapped onto his left arm, and a Green Stuff bonnet added.

Release Five - 16 braw and bonny ECW/TYW era Scots - will be in the webstore by mid-November (perfect timing for Christmas!) Next week I'll be previewing the four packs of figures in this upcoming release. (Mr. Collier has done a great job with them - I'm beginning to think I might sell a few packs of them after all  ;))

Impressive conversions. Just goes to show what you do with these very versatile figures. :)

Yes they are great conversions.

Converting great figures (rather than poor figures) is a lot more fun and a lot more rewarding. Bring on the cavalry!!!!

Nice job on those, I must overcome my fear of conversions - that standard bearer might be a good place to start.

Note to family: And that’s my Christmas present sorted then :)

My latest Bloody order showed up this afternoon and I snapped some picks of the raw pewter figures with zero cleanup, just yanked out of the box and dumped onto my cutting mat.

I got all of Wave 4 (ladies, dragoons, currassier, and villagers) and a couple of packs from earlier releases (looters and sentries).

Great stuff. Thanks Brian :)

Here are the pics of Release 5, the Scots, which I am now busily painting!

I hope you'll agree Mr. Collier's done another spanking job on these Caledonian characters 8)

These will be available by mid/late November.

'The Lowland Shotte' - Four braw Scots laddies, ready and waiting wi’ their trusty auld muskets.

'The Border Staves' - a tough crew of Caledonian diehards, hands open and ready to accept a fearsome selection of distinctive Scottish polearms including two varieties of Lochaber axe, Jedburgh stave, and long halberd. The weapons come on a separate sprue and any of the four polearms will fit into the hands of any of the four figures.

'The Bonny Light Horsemen' - a raffish troop of dismounted Scottish riders with pistols, swords and carbines - borderers perhaps, ready to raid, burn and pillage, or on a hot trod.

'Cocks o’ the North' - a group of colourful C17th Scottish characters… Scheming Wullie, wi’ his cape and big moustache; The Black Douglas, a well-travelled mercenary captain back from the wars in High Germany; the Laird McGuffin, doon frae the hills and braes in his cap and feathers; and ‘Pished Rab’, a celebrated bon viveur needing nae introduction.

The Scots played a significant role in the Civil Wars, with the Presbyterian Covenanters fighting in England for Parliament against the King, and later for the King against Parliament. The Scots also fought each other - Covenanters against the Montrose Royalists (supporters of Charles I in Scotland). And Scottish mercenary troops served widely on the continent in the Thirty Years War in Europe. Also eminently suitable for use as late period border reivers, and (just about) for the 1689 Jacobite Rebellion - Killiecrankie and so on. The 1715 rising would probably be pushing it, but each to their own :)
