So it's head A onto body B, B onto C, and C onto A! A fairly simple task with a fine blade hacksaw, made good with a little Green Stuff around the collar and hair. (All those lustrous mid-C17th locks are a boon for the head-swapper ;))
Are your instructions to the sculptor including "Keep in mind I like to swap heads."? :)

Very nice conversion work.
Best wishes,

Thank you Helen.

I haven't shared my butchery with him yet lol

I can see a pack of separate heads proving a useful extension to the range though, for the would-be converter...

You might be onto something. One of the things I always liked about the Westwind Arthurian range was the packs of heads (even though some of the sculpting was a little coarse).

Yeah. I remember the Lamming figures of yore. All separate heads. Innovative in their day, and allowed a degree of variation :)

The only slight difficulty is that just about all of my Bloody Miniatures figures so far tend to have longish hair coming down onto and over the collar at the back - because that was very much the mid-C17th style. So it's going to be tricky to pull off - but not impossible.
Anyway, first things first - plenty of other fish to fry before getting onto such nice extras...  :)

And finally... Release 2 of Bloody Miniatures is almost upon us.
Apologies if you've seen these already, but for the record...

Nick Collier has now finalised the next 16 figures, and once again pulled out all the stops to create a set of extraordinary mid-C17th characters.
These are now with Griffin for moulding, mastering, checking and - after all that - production casting.  I’m hoping, all being well, these will be available around the start of October, as single packs of four figures, or as an all-in, 16-figure deal entitled ‘A Murder of Crows’.

Pack BM006 - The Squire’s Men

A skirmishing party of loyal woodsmen, gamekeepers and sharpshooters, drawn from his oldest tenant families to form the Squire’s personal lifeguard of foot. He’s raised his own company from across his estates, but these chosen men, old and young, with their well-used fowling pieces and muskets, are the cream of his crop. (If rumour is to be believed, one or two might even be the crop of his cream... ) In their homespun short coats or old-fashioned doublets, they're aiming, priming, lurking, or advancing stealthily. Ready to bring down the Squire’s enemies as gladly as any deer or partridge.

BM007 - The Storming Party

A veteran assault crew of hard-bitten desperadoes, hand-picked for their courage and ferocity. First to the breach in any siege or escalade, they are helmeted, well-armoured and equipped, and armed to the teeth with pistols, swords, axes, grapples, and the fearsome new grenados – in attacking and advancing poses.

BM008 - The Night Watch

A detachment of musket-armed picquets, guards and watchful sentries. In camp; the market square; guarding the baggage, the prisoners, or the gates to the manor. They wear broad-brimmed hats and helmets, one or two in foul weather capes or casaques, and are in standing or walking poses, with muskets cradled, grounded or at the ready.

BM009 - The Moss Troopers

A rapacious gang of brigands, freebooters, broken men, or discharged and destitute soldiers turned to banditry and ambuscades. Hard-bitten irreconcilables for whom the war never ended - like the notorious Doones of Badgworthy Vale. This disreputable crew are attired in Dutch coats and boots, their hair worn long under broad brimmed hats. They’re well armed with pistols, swords and carbines.

You have to say, Mr Collier's pretty good at faces...

By popular request (well at least three people) the next Bloody release will also include a separate weapons pack. Nick had already made all the components, so figured I might as well make them available for those that want them. Useful for vignettes and so on, or for conversions. You can also use them to equip pack BM002, The Forlorn Hope, with something other than the polearms they come with.

The 14-piece weapons pack will include: Musket; carbine; fowling piece; pistol; two different powder flasks; four different mortuary swords (two unsheathed and two in their scabbards);  halberd; partisan; bill; spontoon.

That's it. Will confirm here once they're available :)

Just brilliant. Love that ‘bulletproof’ chap in particular. (Coincidentally just published an article on the impact of the TYW on my current hometown - which included sixteen sieges.) If only ordering from the UK wouldn’t be such a hassle.

All are lovely additions Richard.

I can’t decide if my absolute favourites are the Night’s Watch or the Squire’s Men, as alongside their specialist roles you have devised, both would certainly add a lot of character to my musket units.

Minis (foot & mounted) finished in 2024 = 0
(2023 = 151; 2022 = 204; 2021 = 123; 2020 = ???)
