More great stuff, Helen!

I particularly like the last one. He's very characterful, but I also identify with him, as I have been in that situation a few times myself. More often caused by beer or cider than by Zulus, mind.

Thanks Dylan. The plastic heads in the set are wonderful. Plenty to work with there.

I'm waiting on my next tranche of Perry Miniatures to paint up the men of HMS Active for the charge.  :)

Cheers!
Best wishes,
Helen

Just arrived from South Africa a reference book on Zulu Cattle. Highly recommended.

So we have completed this Toy Soldier non-redcoat vignette. From some of the passages I read in Mike Snook's book I  wanted to make a vignette of a translator attached to number three column. This could represent either James Brickhill who remained in camp or one of the other translators who was attached to the forward elements with his lordship. So we have in this vignette the translator speaking with a Zulu Chief an a Natal Mounted Police escort.

I've used from the Perry Miniatures Rorke's Drift sets Chaplain Smith converted to be the translator - metal head swap and plastic left arm. Perry Miniatures metal Zulu straight from the box and a much converted Perry Miniatures metal Natal Carbineer made into a Natal Mounted Police. Apart from his head swap, carbine foregrip cut down, buckles on his boots, trefoil placed on both sleeves there are also the pistol holster and straps. Liquid putty for the majority of the modelling requirements.

As always thank you for looking.

I wanted to create a vignette of Colour Sergeant Williams and Private Williams from the movie Zulu Dawn. So here we are.

Thanks for looking.

Wow, these vignettes just keep coming. If you aren't careful you'll end up with more vignettes than 'combat troops' for your games.  :)

That colour sergeant was Bob Hoskins in the film, wasn't it?

Thanks Dylan. I actually have two armies which I've not shown as they are they are old miniatures bought second hand.

Bob Hoskins was the man in question.

I still have a few vignettes to finish before completing the remainder of the forces.

Cheers!

More lovely looking figures, great stuff!

I wish I thought about doing this kind of vignette for my armies, I am far to focused on what is needed to play the game. Need to think a bit more about what makes the game look good.

Thanks Fred. Vignettes tell a story that sometimes cannot be express by linear formations.

Cheers.

Both of these vignettes are very nice Helen. Great painting and I really admire the basing.
Got to kick at the darkness till it bleeds daylight.
