54mm Sci-Fi?
« on: September 04, 2009, 10:15:11 PM »
Hi there!

I just happened to lay my hands on an "Aliens Deluxe Playset" by TreeHouse/Palisades, which includes several plastic Colonial Marines and Xenomorphs in 1:32 scale.

Which other 54mm sci-fi sources are out there?

I know about GW's Inquisitor (costing an arm a leg) as well as FFG's Mutant Chronicles (somewhat cheaper), but I have never been fond of Gothic sci-fi with spikey bits... I do prefer something with a more classical sci-fi or realistic feel.

Thanks in advance! :)

Well there are these:

http://www.hlj.com/hljlist2/?SeriesID=2756&MacroType=All&Dis=-2&GenreCode=Gun&searchpage=Guntop

http://www.hlj.com/hljlist2/?SeriesID=968&Dis=2&MacroType=ActFig

http://www.dustgame.com/products.php

And probably the best kept secret:

http://www.phebuscreation.com/

It pays to dig through the Phebus site, especially for the Aliens and space legion figures.
I  have a Thor on order, I can post a review when it gets here... o_o

... bit late but... most (all?) of the responses offer 1/35th not 1/32nd scale pieces. Whilst in SF its not a case of 'it can't be right' because who knows, there is a crucial difference in human body scale involved and the pieces rarely mix easily. Even the lovely resin single figures advertised as 1/32nd often turn out to be 1/35th.

We (Skirmish Wargames) game in 54mm 1/32nd scale almost exclusively and are just looking at an SF setting (we already do it in 95mm 1/18th scale -http://s654.photobucket.com/albums/uu266/MikeBlake/Sci%20Fi/ ). The 2 1/2 inch Halo 3 sets are pretty much 1/32nd, and there are some Star Wars sets in the scale too.

Would love to hear of any more out there?

Look out for 'cake topper' spacemen for a classic 60's look.

As far as I know Igor (Ratnik) was doing at least one Stalker-mini in 54mm, if not more.
You could check the "Enclave" forum for 54mm sources.

I for my self wait until Phebus is releasing Aliens in 1:35, and start than an SiFi project :D

I have been eyeing up the halo mega bloks mini figures, the heads and torso armour fit up perfectly against my 1/32 ww2 airfix!! So got me thinking of some armies in plastic "moderns" and some head/armour weapon swaps. Also mega bloks did some dragons universe sci fi that are the same scale, and cheaper.

Ben 10 mini figures also look like a good source for aliens etc.
