Thanks for all the positive comments, much appreciated.

Still working on the British infantry but taking a small diversion to think about terrain. I’ve looked at various 10mm buildings and haven’t decided what to select, so I thought I’d dabble with some old school scratch building using foamcore. O Group doesn’t have building rules per se, but rather the concept of BUA (built up areas) so a terrain base represents this area rather than the individual structures. Keeps things simple for action at this scale. So here is a damaged farm.

I’ve considered various options for hedges and in the end made my own clump foliage by chucking a piece of old foam in a blender. At this scale a small amount goes a long way and I’ve made a lifetime supply.

This was then mounted on textured MDF strips. While the buildings are clearly only going to work for 10/12mm these hedges could easily be used as low hedges for 20mm.

Really lovely. I have done a few samples, but now you have me doubting my infantry basing of 40 x 20mm.

For my own dabblings in 10 / 12mm, i have found 6mm walls make and excellent starting structure to glue clump foliage to to make hedges and for buildings / bridges etc, I like what Battlescale are doing.

I note that pendraken are re-doing their 10mm vehicles and the newer sculpts are bigger and much nearer to the Victrix sculpts, helpful because as you say, i will not always want six of everything.

For anyone interested, I put up a blog post comparing the Shermans of Pendraken and Victrix (plus some infantry examples). Link.

Love it all!

TP, liking how you're coordinating your base textures and flocking over to the BUA areas (with the troops dropping seamlessly into place).

Nice tip about the foam in the blender, and the resultant hedgerows are just perfect for Normandy.

Very quickly put these together using the same method as the earlier building. Foamcore, cardboard and MDF. I wish I'd spent a bit more time on them now as I'm very pleased with the way they've turned out and a bit more detail would not have gone amiss. No complaints though, these will be on the table soon enough.

The signs are a free download Mac - just google 'Normandy signs Woffenden' and it's your first result.

It’s done like a decal. As mentioned the image is a free download. Download the jpeg and then put it into a document and reverse the image. Print on an inkjet printer. Glue it printed side down with PVA. Once dry wet the paper and slowly rub it off with your finger. The image should reveal itself positive side up on the building looking like it does in my pictures. It won’t be perfect and will look a bit faded and worn, which is the look you want anyway.

Nearly finished the core British and German battalions and almost ready to get these on the table and play the introductory scenario in the O Group rule book. It's been an interesting project. The painting itself has been fairly quick and not too arduous. Overall I'm happy with the end result but I'm finding there's a lot less satisfaction than working in larger scales. Perhaps I just need a break from so many small figures.

British anti-tank guns, all from Pendraken. One 17 pounder and two six pounders.

British command stands. The two larger ones in the background are not essential for the rules, rather they act as markers. The one with the mortar team will mark the number of off table artillery/mortar missions using the micro dice to record those. The stand to its right is the battalion HQ marker, the key thing there is that the micro dice records the number of HQ orders available. The smaller stands in front are one FOO and the other three are the company commanders for each of the battalion's core companies. Figures here are a mix of Victrix and Pendraken. While the sculpting style is very different they all sit well enough together size wise.

For the Germans a Pak38 and a Pak40, both from Pendraken.

A German battalion HQ, serving the same purpose as the British HQ.

Last but not least the first of six diminutive Carriers for the British.
