Finally an update :D

I finished Alvar Fanez, a couple more knights and redid the shields of the knights I already painted. But most importantly I switched to big bases in the hope to use them with the Midgard ruleset once it's released. Imo, it looks so much better on these bases.
I used for infantry 60x80 and for cavalry 60x100. These are the bases sizes that will be used for the upcoming ruleset from Claymore Castings and I am always blown away when they show their painted mini's, so I copied the basing style.  :D

These are absolutely fantastic!  The horses in particular have come out a treat.

Again an update, and again there will be some rebasing in the future, as I finally decided what ruleset to use. It will be for Swordpoint, finally bought all the books. :o

The pictures:
Almoravid cavalry, Julian de Súria, who is a Catalonian knight. He just survived the battle of las Navas de Tolosa. Than we have the Count of Barcelona, Berenguer Ramon II "the Fratricide" and his unfinished bannerman. He will be the general of my army for the County of Barcelona. He will be placed on a base with his bannerman. There is also a lone crossbowman, which I painted together with the count.
And than my favourite miniature so far. The Duke of Aquitaine, William IX "The Troubadour". He still needs his spear and shield painted, but I coudn't wait to show him. He will also be the general for the army of Aquitaine. (I will use the French (Capetian) armylist for this army).
The sculptor of Reconquer designs has made the last couple of months a couple of changes to his miniatures. Now it's really very realistic. You can see the difference between the bannerman (Barcelona) and William IX. I like it, but it means all details are smaller, so it's a bit more difficult to paint. Especially the faces.

The horse sculpts in this line really set the standard and your painting is up to that standard; really well done.

Brilliant

Update!
And a small change, I am leaving the 11th century for a while and jumping to the late 12th century. :-)
I am working on a unit of dismounted knights. It will be the only one in the army. The rest will ofcourse be mounted.

It's still Spanish focussed, but I am planning to use them for the 3rd crusades to.

This is a WIP of the first base of a unit. There is still a knight missing and the bases needs to be finished. The third dismounted knight will be in the middle.
The base includes a Spanish mounted knight, a templar and a knight of the order of Calatrava. The knight I still need to add will be also a knight of the order of Calatrava, but he will have a brown habbit and a white mantle with the cross on the left shoulder of the mantle.
The templar has also his cross on his left shoulder, but sadly not visible. I make sure it's visible next time when I take newer pictures. :-)
