Eliot’s 15mm SciFi
« on: April 02, 2021, 03:46:18 PM »
Hi all—

I would like to share the minis I’ve painted since getting back to the hobby since the start of the plague.

Here are some from Khurusan. I’ll post more once I’ve figured out the forum posting. And Alternative Armies.

Cheers,

Eliot

Nicely painted, hard to believe they are 15mm.

Hey-

Thanks guys. I think I’m really starting to get painting 15’s.

Here’s a few more. The big guys in orange are from Alternative Armies and the rest from Khurusan. I think big orange guy and tiny shiny lady might be the extreme ends of the scale spectrum. The hoverbus(?) is something I’ve been working on for a bit now. It definitely needs more stuff glued to it.

Cheers

Looking good. I'm particularly interested in that hover bus!

Hello-

Thank you all for the kind words. Here are some of my latest. The bug and his suitcase drone are from Khurasan. He is the captain of my five parsecs crew. His dogs are from Onlsaught. The blue unit is a scientist and his warband. He’ll fit in as a rival somewhere along the way. The troopers are from Rebel and the rest khurasan. Hope you enjoy.

Those do look good. What are you basing with on the bottom two pictures? It looks interesting. The grit looks very fine, perhaps.

Hey-

Thanks guys. Cook - the bases are just CA and baking soda. It looks particularly good if you drop other stuff into it before you adding the baking soda, the reaction makes it “grow” over the debris and looks fairly integrated.

Cheers

Interesting... I really can't remember hearing about that before. So you put the baking soda down and then the CA on top? Or the other way round?

Cook-

I just put a blob of thicker CA down on the base, settle the mini into it so some of the glue covers up the cast on base trying to avoid the feet, sometimes they disappear into it. Then sticks and rocks etc. After that then a sprinkle of baking soda onto the base. The texture comes from the reaction between the glue and soda not from the soda itself. A little bit of soda gives some nice bumps etc, more soda tends to make cracks in the glue which can also look good. I hope that makes sense.

I'm going to play with it a bit. So thicker CA. I have just the right stuff for that!
