Initially perturbed thematically, now excited, & yet undecided.

Too many ideas & not enough brain cells.

'Difficult/Rough Terrain' is a very interesting & challenging choice.

***08/04/2021 - Will probably be something Volcanic :) - Still formulating, maybe Fire to Ice, maybe no Ice, maybe just Volcanic - though entirely subject to change lol lol lol

---  {2 hours later} Might go for a 'Haunted House' as always wanted to build one, rotten floor boards, collapsing stairs, teetering stonework on faux crenellations, doors opening into nothingness, or be that the cellar door with a 30 foot drop entrely missing said stairs (SPLAT!) if the fall didn't kill you what lurks in the cellar will nyuk-nyuk, secret wall partions that open behind you, trapping you into a wall cavity maze forever, plus many more archetypes of a "Good haunt" :)

---  {8 hours later} Well now, plans are quite possibly changing again & I'm going full circle to the unannounced. I originally thought, & really wanted to, build a 15mm-1/72 scale Hillfort for my Celts, but 'Difficult Terrain' whipped that straight out of my mind, as it may have been considered 'Defence' or 'Building' or such like. However, after churning it over, I think I may be able to work it after all. Having just ran it past the Hammers, it should be ok as long the Fort element is of course not the main focus in build or completion (which will be a wee bit weird right enough to omit it respective of comprehension or continuity of build to observers) & with that it should be ok to go :)  But, I was also really looking forward to sharpening all my sticks for the ramparts & palisades :'( . Whittlin all them sticks to pointy points of lacerating & impaling properties would have been fun, along with trying to make them look chisled & hacked by wee tiny hands & tools :D  However, all is not lost as the noggin now needs to think on how to construct the main base without integrally including the Hillfort itself, or even the earthworks staked palisades & big angled stabby defence logs rammed into the embankments (apologies the correct terminolgy for such big angled stabby defence logs slips me). So again, it challenges oneself, which is all a positive :)  But I reiterate "It's all entirely subject to change lol lol lol"

---{12hrs later} Two more possible concepts, fantasy based, though dare I utter them. Oh ok then. One to do with spiders & webs & the other to do with Mushrooms, Puffballs & animal bones. Whyyyy Mushrooms?  Because, I'm, a Fun-guy...

... lol

... :-I

... :-[

... :-I

... :'(

I-I-I'm sorry, no, really, I-I'm sorry, that was, inexcusable, I'll just :-I, I'll just get my coat :'(  ***

Hello again,

Until 5 days ago I have been caring for an elderly relative after their hospital op & during the precursor nhs (Scottish) incompetent fiasco prior to said op. That family context consumed my daily & evening time of 3 weeks or so, that being noted I do apologise for my recent lack of contribution, regardless of the whys. I have now had about 6 days under my belt to get some more work done for the BSC.

I peeked in last night to see what was happening here, with the intent of signing in to post then as to what I post now. But frankly I was too damned exhausted & was literally blacking out at the keyboard. Editing & resizing all the photos took the last couple evenings (bloody ages, must be getting old) & finally finished this eve, the photos, not the project, alas.

I had hoped last night to at least, albeit unable to complete the project on time, get something on my thread by the 6th to show my BSC peers that I haven't been sitting on my thumb nor it being a case of 'can't be arsed' to participate. After a shifty to check that I hadn't buggered up the date or time in Rules Pinned, to my surprise I read there is to be an extension of 2 weeks thereabouts. Therefore I shall continue & complete the current project, & hopefully I can also 'socialise' more with those participating.

But first, to Mr. Hammers; May you walk out the other side stronger than before, with fat bonuses to your SAN, INT, STR, WILL, EDU, POW & DEX, suffering no HP in the process. May your mind & spirit regain it's resolute equilibrium once all shite has been shovelled from lifes pathway & such shite cast into it's rightful ephemeral place. Shine On Man, Shine On!!

So, first up, the pictures below were of a test piece on a scrap bit of firm 6x10cm poly for the ''Hill Fort Bog Terrain''. This was started near the beginning of the BSC. It was a complete shit fight to photograph correctly. Colour bal' + W bal' was consistently off & as such needed prior noted time of 'heid nippin' editing. There is a waste land of unused images sitting in a folder currently. Sods Law or I may have had them posted before now.

Anyway, I am no longer doing the ''Hill Fort Bog Terrain'' for the BSC. I have my reasons which I may go into further  another day, but suffice to state that the level or degree of detail & representation of the natural world I want to achieve is not practical for gaming & as such voids the BSC rules & defeats it's purpose of creation for the BSC.

Final images show the test piece as unfinished, however this in turn offers you chaps the various layered stages towards completion, which may be of interest to some. Much more plant life needs adding, including some tiny 'Bog Cotton' I created, & of course the brackish Peat Water which most likely will be of Epoxy or Ure res'. It will now end up being used for a very small diorama, poss' for some Old Skool LOTR or a Jacobite vs Redcoat scene. Photos illustrate it's sequential creation, with a few figs for scale.

Hill Fort Bog Terrain Test Piece 1 - Prt2.

Adding the Earth or 'Peat'.

The smaller BCU pics are to show how I tried to simulate a cracked effect, whereupon sodden peat dries out too fast & fissures appear. I juxtaposed this with more compact earthen areas.

Ok, going to have to stop here as the gallery won't allow me to upload anymore photos. FKWS why.
Will Try again in a little while as I have a lot more to post. For now, I'm off to get my dinner finally.

Thanks very much Codsticker, much appreciated. I will get it finished someday for sure :)

If I can get more images uploaded, of which I seem to be having problems with, as the site keeps booting them off even though I go through the bulk uploading process, then they don't appear in my gallery, there should be some close ups of the wee test piece that you might like to see :)

With the abandonment of ''Hill Fort Bog Terrain'' for the BSC, I then had several other permutations of imagination to potentially create instead.

One idea was certainly NSFW & may have caused too much of a taboo stir, potentiating a yield of fire & pitchforks, yet in concept it is most certainly niche retail viable & of value. I created a lot of illustration designs for it during early BSC as preliminary concepts to the build, & I thoroughly enjoyed putting pencil to paper after so many years, which of, those scratchings would have been posted on my thread, but today I am only posting 1x illustration & 1x sculpt of that project which shall remain quietly in the works. The basic Rules are almost finished & the Background narrative blocked out. It is to be a WG+RPG hybrid 4'X4' table top game. It will be very taxing on the mind.

Another idea I had which sprung from the former, is more suitable & fitting for the median of forum members of LAF, & I am highly doubtful of it generating an offended assault mob. I also believe it to be a cool idea, with a very particular mechanic I have not seen used for the table top WG or RPG scene. Again, it holds value for the retail market, therefore in turn both projects & concepts have the propensity to being ripped off by the perusing public, which I don't want to have happen, again. That's right, I stated “again”. No it didn't happen here, somewhere else, not so long ago.

Anyway, time has fought against the latter two concepts coming to fruition at this juncture. Therefore those ideas could not be created for the BSC even if I chose to. Which is somewhat a pity, as I was looking forward to applying onto the terrain the following old demonic chap I sculpted. Yes, the project is rather dark in nature. You may still yet see it manifest, down the shadowy line of time.

Right, with all that out the way, the following is a compromise on my part, not being what I had intended to create as terrain, but includes the necessary BSC stipulations & allows me to flex my creative 'muscles' beyond solely gaming terrain in generic concept.

My 'new' imaginings is feasible to have made & finished in the next 2 weeks, should no more 'life' matters pull me away.

Tomorrow (well, today, being that it is the wee hours already) I will post images of what my current BSC project is :)
