Thank you.  A bit more for you then.   Fences finished along with a couple of cultivated areas so can do things like this…

This will be enough fencing.   As I can gather, they were not particularly struck with keeping livestock.   No sheep, or pigs (Japan had a pretty feral wild pig) and only a few cattle kept for hauling plough shares or carts) so really not too much use for large amounts of stock fencing.

Besides which…if I see another knot any time soon…..🤪

For your bamboo, did you dip them before spraying them?  Specifically the brown lower vs green upper part.

I simply spray them black

Paint the whole thing in green yellow ( Vallejo)

Wash in Agrax earthshade

Dry brush with desert yellow

Paint the knots black

Light dry brush everything with admin grey

Then paint the sections between the knots with desert yellow.

I may have done a step too many but it works for me.

David, I think the question was about the 'living' bamboo (the groves) and not the fences.  ;)

Sprayed the bottom desert yellow then simply added Agrax wash yes.

I can’t do faces…but this mounted samurai’s face was a poor cast and really a bit of a blob so looks worse than usual! However I’m happy with the rest of his paintwork.

I like the figure though so he will be prominent in my regular selection.

And in a small departure for me……SMALL trees!   Going to have a go at a few cherry blossom trees.   Here’s a start….

Yup, I bought one of these off the internet.   It didn’t look this bad in the image but it’s basically …crap!

Hence why I’m making my own.   Now I wanted a particular foliage / blossom flock from Huge Miniatures from the States, but delivery and duties are too high.   I have found a blossom flock from Greenstuff World which I’ve ordered but it’s a tad darker than I wanted and monotone.

So, my solution is to salvage what little I can from this monstrosity and then mix it in with the Greenstuff World flock when it arrives.

Anyway, we shall see how that works out.  For now, the tree trunks are painted and stood ready….

Unfortunately what looks like the right stuff is actually flock not foam sponge.   Right colour though.  Anyway…I’ve ordered the Greenstuff world pot now…..it will be fine I hope!  Ta

On that variety I guess….lucky there are any number of varieties so some are darker I’m sure!   For what I need this will be fine. 😉

Edit:  ok seeds of doubt had me searching high and low…..I now have light pink and white foam coming too!   I have spent far more than I expected to!   I may have to make MORE trees to justify the cost! Lol

I’m still waiting in my first building delivery but hopefully soon I will be able to have my first test game.   I have also ordered a pack of printed villagers to add colour.   I need to purchase a few stalls now I think.  I have seen a few distressed and modified sarrisa ones which look good….I may have a go myself.

Meanwhile..I shall simply keep painting the odd mini!
